is the Interceptor-X EMS really that woth it?

is it worth it to pay $1500, and only gain 10-20 hp on an automatic? (10-20 is what some ppl said in other threads)

I wanna hear this thread discussed so I'll post a usless post and get it bumped. an intake gives you around 4 hp (TOPS) for around 300-350. The two are very similar in price per horsepower. 20 hp for 1500 equals roughly 4 hp for 300. So, the question is, do you think the intake was worth it? If not, then the int-x most likley wont be

Worth it?

Well, lets see:

φ =
pay $1500
λ =
gain 10-20 hp on an automatic?
Δ =
wo[r]th it?
φ(Δ) = λ

I guess yo will need to come up with a value for Δ on your own.

Not worth it, unless you are going FI.

I'll try and give you an answer . I have a different brand piggyback but ended up with the same gains on the dyno (approx 20 hp on a 6MT ) . Now the dyno tells me I got that power but I've driven with and without the maps and cant really tell the difference . Don't know why - you would think that 20 hp would be pretty noticable . So in my opinion its not worth doing - unless you are thinking of going FI later

a little - not in cruising mode though as no changes are made with my setup . The int-x get worse mileage in cruising I believe - not sure on this though .

Actually several customers are reporting very good, some even better than pre-Int-X highway cruise MPG.

"Results may vary."
"Some assembly required."
<Insert totally accurate and completely useless generic quote here.>

I'm not sure it's worth the cost over other options, but if you're not dead set on FI, I really doubt any piggy back is "worth it."

Well, the concept of "piggyback" is a bit blurry these days.
Technically speaking, the Int-X isn't a piggyback. It completely removes control over the fuel and spark from the PCM.

Still, whether it is "worth it" or not depends on your goals.

I've been running the int-x for a while.

It's a love hate relationship (90% love, 10% hate). The int-x is extremely solid. I do not worry about going into boost with it, it performs the exact same way every time. So as far as handling the turbo, it's great. I have no complaints at all.

The hate part comes in with the idle. I've never been able to get the car to idle quite right with the mazsport cooling fan mod. I've actually removed one of the fuses off of the mod, and that's come close to fixing the idle issues I have... but now the car isn't cooled down as well as it would be with both enabled.

Mazsport should come up with some switch integrated with one of the int-X axillary functions. Disable the after market fan controls below 2K rpm, leaving it entirely in PCM control.
It probably wouldn't be too difficult to do on your own. i'd attempt to, but i don't have a mazsport cooling kit. Anyone wants to donate? LOL

Sorry for taking off topic.

Matrix mode makes it easier to get control of the idle.

The problem you are having is that, despite the "IDLE" indication being on, you are actually oscillating between the idle screen and the load screen as the load and RPM vary.

Perhaps Jeff. Check your t.p.s. calibration screen and verify it is set to the correct value. In the TPS_CAL screen an "*" should be present when the engine is at normal operating temp. Scott

Yes, the TPS calibration is correct.
However, the actual tuning utilizes an interpolated curve between the idle and load screens.
Matrix mode alleviates that by allowing you to ease the curves up from idle to load.
