Eliminating low RPM stutter

A lot of people, myself included, are experiencing low rpm (<4000) jerkiness with a Stage 2 tune, mostly noticeable before the car is totally warmed up.

Canzoomer says this is due to the 'choke' and spark plug timing dialed into the ECU when the engine is warming up.

The 'cure' is to zero out the low rpm ignition advance, which unfortunately will also negate the positive power/driveability effects once the car is warmed up.

I can think of two workarounds, both of which shut off the Canzoomer until the car is warmed up.

1. Put a remote on/off switch in the passenger compartment.

2. Put a logical switch in the CZ unit so it doesn't turn itself on until the engine is warmed up.

I get around it by driving sanely until the car is warmed-up. I think this is the wisest thing you can do. It just seems right from a preservation standpoint.

Agreed. However, we live in a very hilly area and have to get the car up those hills, so that requires a bit of throttle.

Plenty of hills here in middle Tennessee. The stutter gets anoying below 45 degrees and doesn't go away below 35 degrees. I like the idea of a switch inside. Forgive me if it's a dumb question, but would the extra length of wire add too much resistance or is it not that sensitive?

Are you tuning below 6200 RPM?

Yeah. This is just a non-problem.
Go out. Start the car. Go back inside. Go back out in 10 minutes and drive.
If you need to use more throttle on a cold motor, keep it in a lower gear.

Fixed mine. I zero'd out the advance at the 4400 mark. Cured my ills. Before, mine wasn't happy with the 5 points aditional advance that was on the original CZ map even when it was fully warmed up.
