Red face Buying Accessport

Hi,

Do the Accessport as listed in many of the reseller have the following functions as standard package.

I would like to buy one set with the following features:

1) Able to tune fueling and spark map.
2) Adjust the coil dwell durations
3) masked CEL
4) Increase OMP oil injection amt.
5) Adjust idle speed.

The reasons i'm asking these is because the local speed shop who is selling it says he can't sell me one that is "Unlock". He will have to lock the set, so everytime i need to change some parameter, i have to go back to him. I would like my set be remain open so that i can change parameters anytime myself.

Pls let me know where can i buy from based on my above needs.

Thanks

Simple answer is he is full of ****.

The tuner will create a tuned map for your car that will be "Locked" this is true, but the Accessport it self is not locked.

There is no "package" per say, it is three programs freely downloaded from the Cobb website
that is the package.
Access tuner Manager
Access tuner updater
Access tuner race

You can download the Cobb Race tuner program and do everything on your list yourself without him but cannot look at his design of the map.

HOWEVER, this is very dangerous if you don't have a clue WTF you are doing.

Much better way to do it is go to MAZDAMANIAC.COM, but the Accessport from him and you get a free tuning service with purchase.

Trust me he will do you right and you won't regret it!!!

+1 on that, plus you'd know who's doing the job and the huge amount of positive feedbacks speak for themselves.

The APs core functions do not change no matter where you buy it from. However unless you know how to use the AccessTuner Software it is a paper weight.

Thanks Guys for all the answers, will buy it from Mazdzmaniac.com since he is so highly recommended.

The purpose of me trying to tune it myself is because i have all relevant tools and equip to do the job....i would like to scope my dwell current when i make changes to my LS2 coils retrofit, which is now working in my daily driven RX8, but i think it's not optimsed....till i see it on my scope.

As for my tuning part, i have been a Megasquirt user since it was introduce in late 2002. Its been very advance and user friendly now, but Accessport make it even easier by tuning thru OBDII port.

Let share what we have learnt and enjoy our ride without being tie down by any workshop/tuners....

Cheers

Should import your MAP from the ECU when you plug it in the OBD2, should be a way to export it to the accesport in a map file. Don't know though because I'm not going that route..

Well... all tunes are locked unless you tune it yourself.

Why would a tuner leave it unlocked?

Yea, if the tuner leaves it unlocked, I guarantee someone would mess with it, blow their engine and come back and blame the original tuner.

When you load up the Access Race Tuner prog, there is a standard factory base map that you can do whatever the hell you to it.

This map is what I used to set my fans to come early, raised idle RPM's. and turned up the oil injection amounts.

Any more than that will be handled by MM.
