AP on Esmeril Kit

Anyone running the AP with the Esmeril kit? Or has anyone tried?

I am starting to look into FI options and I am trying to figure out what would be a good kit with a good tune.

I like the Emeril kit but I am hoping to run the AP on it.

Any thoughts are great... good or bad. Thanks all.

What did you like about it the most; the cheap eBay parts or the fact that it blew up on a regular basis?

Who is using it successfully? Or in otherwords, what is the basis for your selection?

really I dont have a basis, I am just looking around at the moment. But for starters, I think the kit "looks good" and it has more hp potential then Greddy. Thats all I got at the moment. Still in the early stages of shopping.

If you have ideas on the matter then please share. I take your posts as constructive criticism

TeamRX8, the RX-8 I tuned with that kit has been running for over a year now without issues and has tracked it a few times as well. Don't get me wrong I was disgusted by the manifold design and wastegate placement and don't really like the fact that its an ebay turbo but that doesn't mean it blows up often.

The concept of using the MAF sensor in a "blow-through" configuration has been successfully done by MazdaManiac (on an SFR kit) but the last time he (and I) saw the Esmeril kit it was a little more difficult to tune in such a fashion than the SFR.

The SFR is a nice kit.
Jeff successfully tuned on it, once it was determined that the front O2 sensor needed to be moved and Tim has since made that change in the kit (from what I was told).
Tim at SFR has good customer service and great concern over the quality of his offerings and he knows whom to contact when there are questions about the RX-8.
WantedTwo (who is now in Afghanistan) has the SFR kit and it was his car that MM tuned.

The ONLY criticism of all the top-mount kits that MM and I have is that they disallow the use of the Sohn OMP Adapter because the wiring harness will contact the exhaust manifold and melt. Other than that, any observations we may have would be kit-specific.

I never even thought of the OMP... so do you get rid of the omp completely? or just the sohn?

The matter is that there simply is not enough room where the up-pipe is routed to use the Sohn Adapter, but the OMP otherwise remains intact.
