Hey guys,

We are expecting to be able to release the RX-8 AccessPORT during the first quarter of 2008. The development has been going very well and we are very excited to begin offering performance options for the RX-8!

Justin - any indication of what changes have been made to the tune that will be released in Q1 2008? Do the fans come on earlier? Things like that?

This release date is, for nearly everybody waiting for this, completely useless since it does NOT include the release of the Street Tuner software.
The AccessPort will only allow you to load the preprogrammed Cobb MAPs on its own.

Hardly useless, though you may be useless as a potential distributor for said product for saying it is

never from an official Cobb representative and its never been posted on their main site. I understand the skepticism but this announcement really is in a different fashion than the rest.

Yeah, and as a company...have alot more riding on their word right now...

It's not going to be complete...but we will probably see something...

If the preprogrammed AP maps produce nice HP boosts (a-la Racing Beat flash), as measured by the dynos (of course), then this is a nice start (no need to take out the ECU to send it in, no wait time).

I imagine all that would be required for pre-programmed maps would be something that tweaks the fuel tables for aftermarket intakes and exhaust systems. I'm positive in my setup that I've got 8 to 10 WHP that can be squeezed out by just adjusting for those variables.

Otherwise tweaking some sensors such as lowering the fan power on temperature as well as disabling the 2nd o2 sensor and cat checking would be nice for those of us with racing pipes that stare at CEL's all day.

I agree the product isn't useless without the street tuner software unless your FI. Still, I'm sure we'll see a lot of N/A guys like myself pick this up.

I'm excited for this product and can't wait for it to be completed.

^ The things you listed are exactly the things I am looking for and praying that Cobb will provide with the initial release of the AP for N/A engines.

Fuel adjustments, Timing adjustments, lower fan temperature, and disabling the cat delete CEL.

This.

Really though, the street tuner software shouldnt be too far behind the port release. (I hope)

Wow! I guess I should have logged on a long time ago

MazdaManiac is correct. This 1st quarter release does not initially include the additional tuning software option. When we release the AccessPORT for the RX-8 it have features such as map switching, reading CEL codes, resetting the ECU, live data and so on. As w0rm stated, the tuning software should not be to far behind. Though, one thing that would really help with getting the tuner software out faster would be to have more cars (any year AT, and MT '06-07's) come in for testing.

If any of you are in the Salt Lake City area, and would be willing to come in to the shop for some testing, please let me know.

This would almost be worth the 1000 bucks to ship my car...

Grrr - very excited to see this software come to marked.

I did want to know Justin - how much log data will it store and at what granularity?

Better yet - can you send me a sample one? I would like to see the data structure.

I'm sure that the local area rotards will be more than willing to help out...

Anyone want to create a new thread in the appropriate region?
