i know this is a mega revival but the ring on my stock shift boot is absolutely annihilated and cannot be re-used at all. does anyone sell this piece?

 

Great post! I got my red and black leather shifter boot, which matches my red and black interior on Ebay from Topgaiters for less than $15 including shipping. They offer all kinds of interior leather accessories for Rx-8s. Following this detailed posting, it didn't even take me 15 minutes to install, and it looks great. Thanks!

 

I ordered my Shift Boot and armrest cover from TopGaiters, they sent me the wrong color the first time I e-mailed them at about 2 am my time and I had an answer in less than 5 minutes. They where already working on sending out the correct color, no question asked and not even a request for a return of the wrong one. The shift boot install was a breeze thanks to this DIY took less than 15 minutes. The armrest cover was another story you have to stretch the leather to fit over the vinyl cover and it takes some time and an extra pair of hands. Once you have it stretched though it fits tight and has a great feel.
PS I have a black with red stitching with red side panels boot and armrest cover if any one is interested. If you are in the CA High Desert you can come over and pick it up.

 

Easiest DIY yet. Thanks for the pics and write up. Grabbed a leather shift boot from ebay and installed in 15.
