Howdy all..... I hope this is not a double post. I came across this and it pretty well shows you how to do anything to your RX8.
I found it a little cumbersome but if you have a question or want diagrams it's probably in here.

BTW. I'm new here. Just bought my 2005 in October. Been loving it so far and it has been performing well in the snow, ice, slush, mountain passes and -28 celsius temps. I did craft some rock guards for the coolers and rads that I was able to install without removing the bumper. They also protect my fog lamps. I can still easily access the lights for cleaning too.
I think they look pretty decent, tho' I do want to improve them a little.
They cost about 4 bucks a piece to make and took 10 minutes to install.
Don't know whether to post pics now or when I fix the style a little. i.e. finish them.
I needed to do a rush job.

I already saw and saved the manual. It's pretty decent and I've posted the link here and there for other members.
Please post up a DIY for the screens. I installed Racing Beat screens on my car but not everyone wants to spend $90

 

I'll do up a DIY for the screens once I make up some new ones that fit a little nicer.
Then I can post a template for cutting them along with pics.
Mind you they will fit the stock 05 front end.

If you want to take on the project on your own without a template, (getting the right shape is the hardest part).

All I used was....

Some mesh gutter guards from Canadian Tire*. (basically a fine mesh expanded metal). *not an endorsement.
I created a cardboard template for the opening size forward of the fog lamps.
Cut screen slightly smaller than template to accommodate the next step.
Slice a chunk of windshield washer tubing along the seam and wrap it around the perimeter of the screen.
Have the ends of the tube meet at the top side of the screen and zap strap them on. (least visible location).
Hold the screen in place and find a suitable spot to drill two holes in the top of the air inlet (feel around above, there are some things you don't want to drill holes in).
Once the suitable spots were located mark them on the car and the screen.
I used some copper pipe holders, they are usually for holding water pipes against the framework in a house, and bent them to work as a hinge.
I cut two slits in the screen to accommodate sliding 2 tube holders through then just used a sheet metal screw to hold them in place. (I might use a small nut and bolt on my final version).
Because the tube holders work like a hinge I can easily flip the screens up to wash the fog lamps etc.

Shaping and installing the screen in front of the radiator intake is much more simple to do but harder to describe so you'll have to wait for pictures.

I left the screens their silver colour with the black rubber trim. They seem to go okay with my white car. Black would be a more suitable colour for the hinges.
Like I mentioned in the earlier post. This was a rush job since I had just bought the car on Vancouver Island and was heading north where they spread sand(?) (gravel more like it) on the roads for winter traction. Since they are simple to remove I may not use them in the summer when the roads are clear......but then....there are those little birds on the road that are a little slow to react to a car coming at them at 140 KMH.

the service manual are good , but the nazda shop manual has every thing and thye are higher than hell . i bought one when i bought my winning blue 8. it cost me $200+ .

 

I guess this is the shop manual. ABout 2000 pages.
