Replaced alternator and alternator control wire does not have voltage. Override to the positive battery terminal results in alternator engaging. What troubleshooting steps can I take to isolate the problem? Also is there any fuse that should be checked? All fuses have been been tested for resistance and were fine. Battery terminals have a solid connection.

High Output Alternator Installation DIY

So after searching and reading many forums there isn’t a DIY for installing a High Output Alternator , yes there has been a few suggestions and opinions but nothing near a DIY with pictures or suggestions what works best , what exactly recommended parts to buy and of course safest way to properly install.

I found a random picture that may be close to help those interested as myself , but if anyone has upgraded to a 200amp 220amp or 250amp alternator care to share would be great for the community.

Does this diagram apply to the rx8 and if not what would be the most safest convenient procedure

High Output Alternator wiring example ( could this also apply to the rx8 ? )

Do yourself a favor and remove alternator bracket

I just did this job and agree with Reoze. Remove the alternator bracket. Only takes an extra 10 - 15 minutes and makes things WAY easier. Yes, you should remove the water pump pulley to get the bracket off with closed-end wrenches.

Remove the water pump pulley bolts before releasing the alternator belt tension. I put tension on an off the alternator belt to rotate the water pump pulley, and then hold it while releasing the bolt.

While doing this, replace both your belts and the idler pulley on the AC if they are older or original.

I did not have to take out any air intake parts, nor the strut bar. I took out the battery but not the battery tray.
