In principal, you can disable them, or you can force them to pass.

Very true... They are all around the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Or, you can just turn your car off when you go through them. I have a friend who does this with his modded to hell mustang as well as his off roading truck. I think it registers inside the monitoring vehicle as an inconclusive test or something... H's been through about 8 total with his and never received a letter....

You need an Accessport. Cobb cracked the mazda maploader stuff... Anything else (besides cracking their loader) is lipstick on a pig.

Find a friend with a cat, install the cat; go get tested.
Reinstall midpipe.

I actually did some more reading up on this online and might have actually come up with something

So when you clear a CEL and go for an inspection (regardless of disconnecting the battery or using an obd2 scanner) you'll most likely fail because their scanner detects your readiness monitors on your ecu as not ready(go figure).

Basically if you hookup a handheld obd scanner it will say the same thing and tell you how many monitors aren't ready(if I'm not mistaken there are 8 monitors on most vehicles). In order to get these monitors ready the car has to complete a certain number of specific drive cycles(highway, stop and go, high rpm, etc.)

The short answer would be get a cheap handheld obd2 scanner. Clear your CEL, then drive around until all monitors read ready. But in a short enough time span for the CEL to stay off. And all right before you pull into the inspection shop

I too had a blown motor due to my CAT going out and will not ever put one back on. I know what it does but the damage to the enviormnet is minimal compared to the huge factories spewing crap into the air 24/7 I also passed my inspection due to your advice so thank you. On another note, if you can get gas that is Ethonol free your car will get way way way better MPG.

Also another thing that worked for a friend of mine was he partially gutted his cat to where it still has some stuff in there but didnt block up his exhaust so no CEL for him and he passes California inspections.

That's good to hear...My inspection expires this month, so I will be going back at the beginning of next month to have it renewed.

I always try to find ethanol free gas, but it's almost impossible to find.
