DIY - Cell Phone Mount

Having the cell sitting on the passenger seat or in the cup holder presents complications. Holding the cell phone and having a conversation while driving is dangerous. This simple mod addresses both.

First, get a cell phone auto attachment kit from somewhere. In my case, it came from the local Dollar Store. Secure the base part of the holder with the double-sided tape included in the kit. See below, the holder in the middle of the picture.

My Nokia already has a round tab on the back of the phone holster that fits the base. The kit also has a stick-on tab that will fit other phones that don't already have it. Below, the phone is in place.

The completed setup is shown below. Note that a power cord fits nicely in the cigarette lighter socket, drapes across the ash tray, and reaches up to the phone. Also draped over the phone is the hands-free earphone/microphone cord. Using this setup you can charge the phone, keep it out of the way but in line-of-sight, and avoid holding the phone while talking. Having used the phone like this, I notice it has no more impact than talking to someone sitting next to you, frees your hands to do what they should do, and still allows full head movement.

Thanks for the DIY.

How old is your brick phone?
There are a lot of blue tooth phones that are much smaller allowing you to place the phone in
the ashtray or cup holder and a wireless ear piece in your ear...

note that most phones arent 10 years old.. for instance.. it doesnt work with a flip well.. because most cases will then not fit.

Aw, man, that's COLD.

Besides, that phone could easily date from 2002/2003. I had a similar one in that time frame.

They don't have a specific mount for the V195, it's too new. But, since it's just a normal looking motorola, you can find a similar model and it should work fine. Check the dimensions, I think it's similar to the V276 or the V188.

What a terrible... terrible thing to do to your interior.
Paul_in_DC, what will be your next thread?

@ryanalexander4
Quit trolling to the forum. Why do you resurrect a thread that hasn't seen a post in 2.5 years just to insult.

Your post count is 3, but it should be -3 because you haven't said anything constructive or helpful to anyone.

You have 4 post in the For Sale section, which don't go towards your count.

And here's your other 3 post that did "count".

Thread 2.5 years old and you're just looking to be rude.

Definitely lose the chrome B-pillar.. the RX-8 already has so much going on... any more and you're over-doing it.
no post in that thread since July '08, and you just post to be rude.

Completely pointless post and no help in that thread.

My suggestion to you. Keep your 8 because they are great cars, and join the Honda forum.
I've heard from some members here that the Honda forum is full of douche bags that don't offer any help.

Oh, you're a tough guy, aren't you? Thank you, Mr. Goodie-two-shoes. Sorry, my posts aren't all about butterflies, rainbows and unicorns. Give me a break - you think because you have more posts, it makes you cool? It makes no difference to me. I'll never meet you. I don't care what you think or say. Go wreck your car.
