We can go back and forth on who thinks they dont like them, who likes them, who doesnt blah blah blah, well who cares; I like them, people that would like to make the change, this DIY was provided for those people and thats it.

Here are some more pics I just took, its overcast with some rain here in Florida, and also some night shots are included.

Also regarding whoever said about the stock, stock is 4300k not 6400k and also everyone knows that the stock bulbs put out more lumens because of the lower kelvin temperature. Lower kelvin temperature does not mean that they are brighter however. Higher kelvin, increases brightness of the light.color and decreases the light output of the color ect.

Also in one of those pics there is that yellowish light, that is not from the car lights ...it is my security light and since its daylight out right now i cant retake the picture... sorry.

I bought some HID's on E bay for $125 and they also had the depth issue. I just spent some time on a lathe and milling machine and made 2 aluminum adapters to hold them in place. They are a perfect fit.

i have PIAA 6000K wedge 194 bulbs on the way for the parking lights. i messed up bad on them the first time i replaced by ordering a xenon blue 6 LED bulb. they look alright but they are too close to a cop color blue to keep in. i hope the 6000K wont be too much for the 4300K stock xenons?

That sucks smoked; I just had my 3rd set of 194 ( the ones in my pics) burn out AGAIN. They were all from superbrightleds.com, big pain in the *** to get to the lights. Anyone got a quick way to switch these bulbs in and out?

Does anyone know if the stock HIDs have always been 4300k, or if they have changed since my 8 was built 06/2003?

I just got my headlights replaced for haziness, and I swear the new ones are more of a white light, whereas my old ones were more bluish.

Just to reiterate to people, that upgrades like this are strictly for looks. Above 4300k there are no practical advantages. The light just gets bluer and dimmer (to our eyes.) Blue light gives your eyes a harder time focusing and reduces their ability to see contrast. Blue is also very bad in fog, rain and snow (there's a reason fog lights are often yellow.)

Rythmic: Maybe it's just a break-in/age thing.

yes that is 100% correct; however the bluer light is hot looking so much so that im willing to bet anyway wanting it doesnt care about the brightness

did you have to remove the wheels to remove the wheel wells? I've never done this before so I'm kinda scared to.

No just turn the wheel away from where you are working at, and then switch when you change sides.
