WOW.. Mazsport Midpipe

I received my Mazsport midpipe this week and all I can say is wow. The gaskets are even impressive, they must have been 1/8" thick... this thing will never leak. On top of the great quality the fitment was great and it was an insanely easy install (installed it under 40 min, this included jacking the car up).

I thought that is where the impression would stop but alas I turned the car on and it had a great sounding note. Two thumbs up Scott...

I highly recommend this product.

P.S. I tried to find the older thread on the midpipe but it seems to have vanished to the deep abyss...

I just got mine today and will install tomorrow. In terms of sound, it's not supposed to have any. Is it much louder?

I will try and get one in the next day or so... I have to say this makes driving the car with an open exhaust very pleasurable.

Wow... I can't wait to drive home...

Haha yea! i cant wait til mne.. I waired almost 3 months for mine

They said i was first ont he list to get mine and it was shipping this friday!!!!
But ive beent old that many time..

anyways just call them up.. or PM Scott.. they seem really nice and they have not been rude to me in any way..

Many people say bad things but not many say much about the good things..

If you cant wait for a part, or you dont want to pay just a little more.. then dont order..
Personally I wont order anymore until they get everything straightened up and get things out on time.. i can just imagine waiting on a turbo kit.. 6 months to a year!!! I couldnt wait on it that long.

Just installed my mid-pipe and I absolutely LOVE it!
So much better than the AP single resonator mid-pipe I use to have.
Nice deep tone instead of an annoying high-raspy sound I got with the AP.
I can even cruise at 4K RPM and not notice that I have a mid-pipe!
I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone... good job MazSport!

Awesome! I cannot wait for mine to come in! I have always hated the sound of the ap exhaust around 4-6k rpms. Was it an easy bolt on to the AP exhaust?

No problems.
I even started the car with it still jacked-up and checked for exhaust leaks.
The connection to the catback had a small gap at the bottom, but the gasket sealed it well.
I was puzzled as to which bung should have the O2 sensor.
I always thought the WBO2 went on the front bung and the car's rear O2 went in the rear bung.
The wire harness wouldn't reach the rear bung, but barely reach the front, so I just used that and capped the rear.
HINT HINT... be sure to unclip the wire harness from its bracket before installing the mid-pipe!
It was a pain to do with the pipe already in place!

If you haven't removed the mid-pipe section before, I'll give you some pointers I've learned.
When taking the cat off, remove the 5 nuts (3 in the front and 2 in the rear).
The bolts are usually pretty much fused to the pipe, so don't bother trying to remove them (I've had to torch them in the past).
Just push cat towards the back until the bolts clear the exhaust manifold (you'll probably use a flathead screwdriver to help pry).
Once you drop the front end, the rear is obviously easy to remove.
Remove the rubber grommet at the car's hanger (leaving the grommet on the cat section).
Use hand soap to help lubricate the grommet and shaft (VERY helpful) and you'll probably need to use a flathead screwdriver against the car's frame to help pry.
A couple times I've been lucky with just the hand soap lubrication and didn't need the screwdriver.
Once the cat is removed, reinstall the grommet back onto the car's hanger and install the mid-pipe!
Be sure to have some sockets and open-ended wrenches between 12mm and 17mm. The O2 sensor uses a 7/8 wrench.

Hope this helps!

I've heard that with the AP you can run a leaner map and the gas smell is reduced.
Just remember, like with all new pipes, you'll have a smell as chemicals/oils or burnt off.
So expect that for a few days.
And you'll love the sound... no worries!

On the stock mid pipe the bolts that clamp the front of the midpipe to the header are pressed bolts... meaning they have been pushed into the flange and held in place by splines. So therefore the nut is the only thing that will come off. If for some reason you wanted to get those bolts out you would have to hit with a sledge (impact on the thread side of the bolt).

Reasoning for taking the bolts off in the past was because my AP mid-pipe required me to reuse them.
Though looking back, I should have just went to the hardware store and purchased new bolts.

For those of you with the MazSport mid-pipe:
What have you done with the two cross members?
I thought about cutting some thick metal to act as spacers so the cross members will clear the resonator.
I thought I've heard some people were adding a bunch of washers with longer screws.
I don't think that this would achieve the same structural stability that the cross members were designed for.
Remember, with the exhaust "tunnel" running down the center of the car, the cross members are meant to "box" the body and not let it flex in the center.

Well Mazsport was nice enough to help make some spacers for my carbing under-carriage brace. Call them I am sure they can help you out. The spacers that they have are even tight. Just great stuff coming out of that place.

Great! I just got an email from Scott and he told me the same thing.
I might have to add that to my reinforced clutch pedal purchase.

^ Had the same question as you. I just left the braces off. Would love to hear from Scott about spacers.

Installed mid-pipe today and clutch reinforcement mod. Love both mods. The mid-pipe it total quality, sounds great and definitely improves performance. Clutch reinforcement is so much better than stock, better feel! Perfect partner to short shifter.

This is part of an email Scott wrote to me about the spacer:
