Some mods are OK. But its pretty much up to the dealer. If they want to say your intake caused your engine to blow up and they can prove it, then you have no recourse. Now for example if they say your exhaust caused your transmission to fail, therefore voiding your warranty, thats against the rules. Also keep in mind dealers dont always play by the rules.

hahahha, def not the answer he was looking for, but i think rootski is right...
i mean, if you wanna do little mods to make your AT 8 a little faster and more fun to drive, then thats fine... but if you're talking about major performance upgrades, youd probably spend less money, or at least better spent money, trading for a MT 8 than changing out your intake, exhaust, suspension and whatever else. I highly recommend driving stick, and feel this is the only true way to drive...
of course, none of us know the whole picture, and it probably isnt an easy matter for you to just get up and swap cars.... but i do think youd find the performance upgrades of a stick much more gratifying than driving an auto

The majority of mods available for an mt will also work for the auto, browse the diy section, peruse all the mod threads, make up your own mind and go for it. Happy Trails.
Personally I wouldn't buy a mt. LOL now it's even.

guys, guys, I know how to drive the stick, i drive my friends stick 8. MY PARENTS dont know how to drive stick, and since they bought that car for me they got the AT, so my dad can drive it. the dealer bullsh*ted me, he said i have tho get mazda speed mods only, so the warr. doesnt void.

Ok, since I guess either u're too lazy to read the moss act, or you simply cant read. I'll put a short and easy to understand one here.
They CANNOT VOID THE WHOLE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. someone already said it but here is the real deal, lets say if you change your intake (replaced the air box with something else), then your INTAKE WARRANTY IS GONE. AND! if one day your motor dies, and they can prove that your intake is the cause(its almost impossible, unless you dont put filter on), then they can void your motor's warranty.
got it ?
It really depends on the Dealership, if they dont care about business and simply wants to be a dick. Keep looking till you find a cool one, then u're fuxked.
but usually be cool with the service advisor and u will be fine.

That's correct, the can only deny the warrranty on individual parts, or on large sections of the car only if that mod caused the defect.
About the only way they can void the bumper-to-bumper is if whatever mod it was actually caused the car to explode. Even if you get forced induction (good luck), the powertrain warranty might be gone but you're still okay if a suspension component or smomething breaks.
