What is the lightest, non-titanium, dual exhaust?

ive already got an RP supercat. i do autox, but i dont want to go titanium because its too much money, i dont want single exit, and i dont want custom. i actually like how it sounds now. the reason im considering an exhaust system is because i think the stock tips look silly in a Mazdaspeed rear which id like to get some day. i also want to reduce weight if im going to replace the exhaust system. another option im throwing around is just welding new tips to my stock exhaust. just doin some research for now though, keeping my options open.

is that possible? iirc, stock is 39, making this catback 15lbs, almost as light as the titanium setups O_O

That's not true. When I was interested in the Corksport I talked to them. They said it was 14 lbs. lighter than stock (I believe their claim was 25 lbs.). But beware the exhaust is LOUD though. They might say it's 24 lbs. lighter than stock, but that would be 15 lbs. In holding that exhaust no way was it lighter than my JIC unit (18 lbs).

the HKS hi power is reasonably priced and weighs in at 23 lbs. It's not that loud either at 97DB. It has a titanium tip and has a single outlet.

The Corksport is loud when it is new. It mellows a bit after some use.
On the other hand, maybe my hearing is gone.

I heard it with a supercat and one of the original people who got the Corksport unit. It was ridiculously loud. Like ear bleeding volume. I have had the RB cat back with my supercat & now the JIC Titanium and neither are even close to how loud that was.

The Tanabe Ultra Medalion is not a full Ti system, only some of the muffler and tip parts are Ti, but at least they use thin-wall material for the stainless tubes etc. TI can't be welded to stainless, so that limits what they can do in Ti

It looks fairly light, but I would question it being lighter than the JIC Ti and I doubt it's as quiet, they claim it's under 95 dB but that's with the slide-in silencers installed, it most likely makes the most power with them out = noisey

large diameter Ti is very hard to come by and bend, a full 3" Ti system would be the **** but you'd likely choke on the price, not too many people will pay $3k+ for a catback exhaust

.

I must be deaf or something, but to me the Corksport is not loud at all, it's virtually stock sound level around town... except at WOT or at least something more aggressive than normal driving it takes on a nice sporty growl. I've even asked people at the side of the track to tell me how my Corksport sounds as I go wailing by at 90 mph (~9K) and they say, "Oh, it's ok, I didn't really hear much."

The thing that really bothered me initially was the resonance boom at 3K in any gear, must be the point the whole exhaust and car goes tuba. I solved that by dynamating the trunk area and the 'on top' side of the metal shield over the exhaust. Now it simply puruurrs like a kitty or should I say a CAT back there... and it's light as could be ... helps in reducing total car weight ... and giving some size instead of those weenie looking stock tips.

a full exhaust system is legal in STU, and the sound is barely louder than stock, a tiny bit more raspy esp around 4k
