what changes to make to TURBO my rx8?!!
I was first considering swapping my motor out to a 20b but then i realized how much it would be. so now im thinking about boosting my 2004 rx8.
I'm kind of new with turboing a car so i would like to know what exactly i need to change in my stock engine in order for the engine to handle the turbo and not blow.(seals,rotors,etc.)
thanks!!

You are gonna have to buy some Titanium Valve springs if you want your engine to handle the boost from the turbo. Other than that, the Turbo Kit should bolt right on with no worries. You can easily do it yourself.

^ young kids that think everything is slap-on-and-go. I've pointed it out to a couple and other members that you never see such stupidity on the RX7 club.

Man, you guys really need to chill out with this stuff. 813dannykoofey, you really should research the topic, but you will still have questions. I've been reading and researching for almost a year trying to learn about boosting and supercharging, learning to read dyno charts, figuring out which FI systems are good quality and give most power for money, even thought about twin charging!
But while these forums do have some good info, don't expect too much help. Most of the threads you'll come across start out as what your looking for but end up just being arguments between forum members or they'll end up with no conclusion whatsoever. For example, you asked a legitimate question, and now they peg you as a kid who thinks he knows everything. Good luck.

Most of the threads on this board concerning FI builds are all about someone having it done. "Turbo Ultimate setup", "My turbo install" etc. They just show someone having it put it. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots or something, but I've basically been having to teach my self everything. Even threads that actually pertain to what I'm looking for are usually just argument or threads like this bashing the thread starter (not saying you did, the other guy did).
I also didn't say he shouldn't reasearch. But even after my research (which is still on going), I'm still unsure of many things.

@ dannobre^exactly. He didnt mention anywhere in his post what kind of turbo kit he was planning on putting on his car. Depending on the turbo kit he plans to put on his car will give us at least little info to whether a base or upgraded rebuild is reccommended. Its not that we are trying to be dicks, but were aren't genies in a lamp either.
Its like asking us how high he can climb up a ladder when we dont even know what ladder he is using.
@Strifex- Overboosted Overlords is a good thread. It includes almost everyone who is boosted on here complete builds. He should read through all of those and read about the fixes with some turbo kits and the trouble shoooting they had to go through.
There are 40+ RX8s with Prochargers, Superchargers, Turbo Kits, Custom Turbo builds, Nitrous Kits, etc. He should start there. All thanks to KANE, and heres the LINK....https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...sted+overlords It only took me about 10 seconds to find it. Just because someones turbo build went peferct the first time doesnt mean yours is. Almost everyone I know that has done FI of some sort has had to do a rebuild.

You dont need to modify anything if you are going to stay around 300rwhp(more than the stock greddy kit can reach). If you are going to exceed 325rwhp you'll need to upgrade injectors and most upgrade to the walbro fuel pump. Other than that the engine itself takes boost just fine.

@nycgps wow, you sure are helpful.
@ZumnRx8 Thank for that link. I don't know how in all the time I've researching I've missed that thread. It still seems to be mostly about "Hey, look at my build," but its much more helpful than "search"

I never said I did contribute anything. I'm pretty sure I was actually looking for info just like the first guy. I only pointed out how even if you search, most of the threads look just like this one, with a bunch of useless posts telling the person to search or getting in a debate with another member, and never getting any info. ZumnRx8 and Mawnee actually provided some info. So, threads done.
And did you suggest that I stop being a nice guy? Why? So I can contribute to the nonsense. Nah, I'm alright. Thanks again ZumnRx8 and Mawnee.

^^Both of you girlies shut the **** up and stop getting free posts. .
@strifex you didnt try searching hard enough and the OP obviously cant find the search button.
@NycGPS- why are you even wasting your time arguing? /thread.

well...at least he asked.
my opinion..
in my opinion you should:
1. Get a compression test.. from where?? YOUR LOCAL MAZDA DEALER. I would like to say 7.7 or higher is ok to go ahead with your turbo project. Maybe im off, correct me if im wrong.
2. decide you budget. how much are you willing to spend by dollar amount
3. what are your power goals?. then refer back to STEP 2 to see if you're being realistic.
4. Who will do the install?
5. Who will tune it?
6... lastly, who will rebuild your engine after you blow it up? haha

thankyou fellas for helping me and giving me advice on how to ask for questions on this forum. but im sorry i wasn't specific enough about what i was asking.
okay here's my questions.
i would like to buy a t3/t4 kit just to get a little more power like 300hp around there . will my stock engine hold up the force of the turbo for it as a DD? and what brand of turbo would you recommend? or can i just buy a $500 one on ebay and call it a day? lol

I think all ladders go up, but we could be talking step ladders or folded ladders with extensions, or just a normal run of the mill 5 foot ladder. Either way, don't stand on the top rung.
