Does this exhaust drone at all? Is it loud at cruising. XDEEDUBBX, your car is beautiful. I have a red one too with Wedsport Rims. I am getting RX8Store exhaust but also like HKS the one you got. Do you run it with a midpipe? I run my corksport with RX8store midpipe and it is loud but very sweet sound. IT is time for change...

There is no high powered exhaust other than a mid pipe.

 

thanks man...no it doesn't drone at all, its measured at 96 DB. I'm still running the stock cat. Its a little bit louder at idle but it's such a great sounding exhaust. Check out these videos:

Hey XDEEDUBBX, I have been watching your video almost everyday. My kids love it! Your car is very nicely done. My car is stored for winter at the moment and only take it out for a drive once a week or so. I already ordered RX8Store exhaust and heard nothing but good things about it when I did search. I used to have a 3000GT VR4 w/ Apex N1 exhaust and your set up remind me of that. YOurs is a very nice sounding exhaust and HKS is very well made. You should try a midpipe. I am sure you will feel more kick with that exhaust. It is a 3" pipe isn't it?

 

I'd love to put in a mid pipe but my girl would kill me, and I don't want my soon to be newborn to be deaf before the age of 2...hahaha not to mention the cops we have here in los angeles. they'd hate me too..lol

Hey XDEEDUBBX, I have the same problem...my little 3 years old girl cried last time I took her out for a drive in my car after I installed midpipe. I have Corksport with RX8store midpipe. My little boy was with her in the back seat but he was all laughing and her sister was crying. My girl won't even get near my car anymore and would cry when I told her to get into the car...that is so sad....now she's only ride in the camry....I heard that RX8store exhaust is not as loud as corksport so will see how loud it is. Cops around where I live don't care much about noise. Almost every pickup truck around here is runnign with midpipe!

 

I wouldn't mind belching out a flame after every shift myself..hahaha

 

That sounds amazing on the 8!! Love the understated single-sided design also.

Is there a verified increase in HP with that unit? I'm just starting to look for an aftermarket setup for my upcoming 8 and I am mainly looking for sound and aesthetics, since I am understanding that there are not many options to increase HP via the exhaust system on the 8....is that true?

1. What is the best sounding system?

the hks hipower exhaust single sided exhaust on average made 2-3whp on a stock naturally aspirated car. But when this exhaust was used for a turbocharged car it made more whp vs. a standard aftermarket dual exhaust. Don't expect the single sided exhaust to make more power than most other dual catback exhausts on NA cars. But there is a difference in power delivery with the hi flow single sided. On the dyno (which I don't have a screenshot of) the power delivery at the higher rpm's peaked a little bit better.

with a 3 inch mid pipe?.well it depends if you were planning on using your mid pipe combined with the single sided exhaust. With the stock cat it was measured at 96 db. Obviously it will be much louder with the aftermarket cat
