Warranty Safe

I know I know.. I'm going to get flamed.. but damn it's hard to search for posts on a subject as broad as warranty safe parts. If you know of a good one, please, post it.

I'm in the market for an RX8 and I have the Itchy Finger for modding. I'm wondering what most people have had good luck with their dealers when modding. I don't mean stickers, eye lids, spoilers, etc.. I mean things like intake, flywheel, short shifter, etc.. things that make the car sound better, ride better, handle better.. and let's admit it, are fun to do.

Really I'm looking for some possible things that I can then go to my dealer and double check about. And things that I have no chance with, like a super charger, and won't bother asking.

So, help an RX8 newbie out.

Thanks,
BlackNoir

No dealer can void your warrenty due to you having aftermarket parts. Now if that part causes a problem then yes they can void that specific part of the warrenty. For example, you put on a lightweight pulley, a few days later the pulley flies off and screws up your engine, guess what your screwed only engine warrenty will be void. If you install it and a few weeks later your engine dies they need to prove the pully was the cause. Personally I stick with MS cause they give you a warrenty on the actual parts for 1 to 3 yers depending on the part. Hope this helped.

While this is very true, time it takes to prove your point, headache, yelling and screaming is not worth it in my eye...

When I had just the RB cat back exhaust, and air intake, pulley, the dealer didn't even look sideways at my car. After I blew my engine with the Greddy Turbo I was screwed. As long as you don't go FI, or mess with the ECU depending on your dealership, they are usually fine with it.

Mine too - but mine won't install anything other than Mazda/Mazdaspeed parts!

I talked to my mazda dealer outside of chicago yesterday and they are telling me even if i get a mazdaspeed flywheel installed at their dealer it voids my warranty. This was the service manager telling me this. I don't understand. The mazda dealer where I bought the car new told me when i bought it that i could change the flywheel with mazdaspeed and it is covered. I went through this before with fkn ford and a svo motorsport gear installed at the dealership when i bought a mustang. I took the car for service to another fkn ford dealer for warranty work and they realized it had a gear and contacted ford to void the warranty in the computer. Explained the situation and nobody cared. Even the original dealer who did the install couldn't work on the car because the vin came up with a voided warranty. So I guess my question is what's true and what isn't.

Your Mazdadealer is full of ****.

depends on what MS part you have, some parts are not covered by warranty thats true, but they cant void your car's warranty if its MS parts and its installed by a Mazda dealer. hell they cant void your warranty even when you have aftermarket parts.

I talked him again today after some service and Pugi Mazda tried to explain a madzaspeed flywheel is not factory installed. He further stated anything other then factory installed voids the warranty. I asked him what kind of chit is that. What about if I blew my tranny and you installed another one under warranty does that mean you don't warranty that one because it wasn't factory installed but dealer installed. Then gave me a further line of chit about thats different. F pugi. Does anybody know of a mazda dealer in the chicagoland dealer that doesn't care and just wants to see people have fun with their cars.
