Upgrades for an 8

Ok well I was browsing the aftermarket parts for the Rx-8 and I'd really like to make mine sound nicer without spending too much. I know exhaust kits and intakes give nice sounds, and I do not have the funding for a turbo. So how can i make it sound nicer and mover a bit faster?

1)I was thinking a loud exhaust. No limits on the sound for this 8 So What would be a nice and loud one? I hear Racing Beat and MazdaSpeed are pretty mellow.
2)For intake should I go with the K/N Typhoon or the AEM brand intake?
and 3) Anything else I should do while I'm at it? I've got around a 2000 and under budget for these upgrades.

1) Borla (or Hymee) + Dual res mid pipe (look at BHR, there's other though...)
2) AEM
3) BHR Ignition system, Shortshifter and a RX8Club.com sticker...

P.S. The sticker alone adds 5HP!

1. If you want something loud that sounds good I suggest the AP with a dual resonated midpipe. If you want something a bit more conservative but still quite noticeable get a Mazdaspeed V2.

2. get an AEM.

3. short shifter.

Cool guys thanks. And a Rx8Club Sticker is a given haha

Also are short shifters going to be much tougher to use then the stock one? im a pretty weak guy.

no, they reduce the distance the shifter travels in between shifts so if anything it may even be easier to shift with..

ExoticSpeed makes two LOUD exhausts. I run the S1-T and it's too loud for me, looking to swap it out for a MazdaSpeed. The R1-T is even louder.

the Axial Flow Short Shifter is incredible. It's the way the shifter should have been designed in the 1st place. Has a great bolt action rifle feel to the throws.

- Exhausts: there's plenty of them out there and if you're looking for agressive, look into the HKS. They have a Hi-Power version that is single tipped and sounds mean! (xdeedubbx has a youtube video)

- AEM intake sounds pretty slick as well.
