The speed limiter... yeah it's crap. There was a guy in my office that drove a late 90's and now a 2002 Gen3. THe old one was all setup for serious racing.... he'd outrun Porsches, etc. easily... until 180km/h. He didn't add a limiter cut to it. RE Amemiya, Knight Sports, etc. all sell ECU kits that cut the rev limiter and the speed limiter...

I believe Car and Driver TV mentioned that the 05 will have a supercharger option when they did the 10 best cars show a few weeks ago

Honestly I see them adding a third rotor before adding a turbo. And besides that Ive been reading and hearing more and more about a two seater rx-7 which has a bigger chance of being turboed than an 8. But on the other hoand I cant see mazda letting there flagship 8 go around getting spanked by 20k$ turbo NEONS for much longer! i know Its ****'n me off anyways.

FI or more like... F.I. = Forced Induction. Systems such as Turbochargers and Superchargers.

The Japanese Domestic market (JDM) version, that was a 300 car only release, consisted of a mild tune up (exhaust, cat, PCM tune, intake change), higher perfomance suspension and a bodykit. Do a search if you want more info.

I'm going to give the 3rd rotor option a 0% chance of happening on the RX-8. The rotary factory is already running at 100% capability. They can't even keep up with the supply of replacement parts for the older engines. I don't see them retooling the lines for yet another different engine style. It would be much more work than the old 20B engines because of port locations and the added complexity of the auxillary ports on yet another rotor and also the subsequent complexities of the sequential intake manifold. That is alot of effort for a 3rd rotor. the 20B just needed a longer intake manifold that now had 6 total runners. A 3 rotor Renesis would need 9 intake runners and complex actuation to make the sequential intake system work.

It is just so much easier and cheaper to bolt on a turbo or a supercharger. A 3rd rotor would definitely increase fuel consumption by a fair margin. A turbo or supercharger when not under boost doesn't affect it that much (but a little).

I don't see why anyone complains about their car being slower than SRT-4's and WRX's, and EVO's. So what? Do your cars look like those? Thankfully no. Do your cars handle better than theirs? Yes! Look at the types of people that those cars attract the most. It is the squirrly little ricers who want to upgrade. Most of them don't touch the 8 and I thank them for it. If your car is not fast enough for you, buy another car or build a turbo kit. It is really quite simple. For enough money you can build anything. If money were even an issue when buying a car for acceleration reasons, no one would own an RX-8. There are a few trucks out there that are faster too. So what? You shouldn't be racing these people on the streets anyways. I'd like to think we have more of a mature type of owner than those other cars. It is usually those other people that also brag about how their little rocket car outrun a Ferrari too. So what? At the end of the day it is the other guy who looks cool when he goes home. Stay one of those people and let the people with something to prove mess with someone who cares.

The mazdaspeed RX8 has only body kit suspension and brake refinements, do u think mazda spent all those months testing the Renesis for you lot to muck about with? No! They did not, its a very refined engine and i would not even dare meddle with it, what happens if u need more oil in the rotor when u add extra power??? If u want something that goes fast buy a bike, personally in England we have lots of sweeping bends and corners, my 8 has enough power to fly round bends other cars and bikes dare not! I would only trust mazdaspeed products!
LEAVE IT AS IT IS!

Thank you for your post, SurreyPuma. We value your opinion.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

BTW Saying only Mazdaspeed is like saying only Ford Motorsports. Sorry that may be your preference, but it is incorrect. Clearly explemplified by Saleen... whose package tune cars are sold at a large number of dealerships and ALL carry the FULL FACTORY warranty. No one would bad mounth Rousch or Steeda either. BMW? Dinan. Mini? The original Mini Cooper guys have a dealer-sold tune up option. 'nuff said.
