All OD and wall #s are from manufacture info. % stiffer than stock is approx just using a basic formula and assumes that all swaybar arms are the same length and mounting holes are in the same location, also that all bars are made of the same material.

The last one I know of is made by Speed Source and you can only buy it from Mazda Comp parts if you are part of the racer support program. Front 32mm OD 6.3mm wall speedway style bar that is adjustable. This is the bar that is on the GrandAm cup cars.

There is a standard test, but it damages the sample material.

 

so no real way to test them against each other. just by trying them and asking opionions....

you would think something would exist.... so now it is just vodoo...... i find it odd in this world of hi tech not a real way to accuratly compare sways...

I dunno, I have RB sways and Greddy rear strut tower bar, and I have no wheelhop on burnout, greatly reduced body roll in corners the car feels more solid when I go over uneven pavement.

Sways are highly recommended.

Can be very tricky to install though, probably the hardest mod I have done thusfar. Hex bolts, moving bolts, extremely tight spots, and high torque ratings.

 

Just the rear strut tower bar added so much to this car, made the backend hop A LOT less.

If your on a budget I would just get the rear strut tower bar.

my question is. would a sway bar help drifting or hurt it. i have heard different remarks. i have heard that because of the stiffness it helps pull the car around andnot lag behind. i have also heard that because of the stiffness it makes the car grip more and not want to slide.

 

what is the best suspension setup for mountain/daily driving?

 

I have never setup a drift car, but I would asume you would want a weak (stock) front, and a stiff rear.... can anyone confirm?


as for mountain/daily, RB work good. some people say they are a little much for the track, but fine for spireted daily drivers.

oh nah i dont mean you find everything, just perhaps if owners feel like weighing their bars they can post up results here. of course solid will be heavier than hollow bars but by how much? just a thought

 

depends on your springs, shocks, alignment, etc... also how much stiffer you plan on going with the sways. but is general, youll find that most sways will make your car more twitchy at the limit. you can approach the limit more comfortably because of less roll but in drifting, your focus in beyond the limit.

i have vogtland springs which are much stiffer then mazdaspeed frem experience and it was pretty easy to drift. it was just the right amount of usable bodyroll for my style. after i got the tanabe sways on, the first thing i did was spinout when i tried to slide. the usual weight transitions werent there anymore and there was slightly less feedback from the tires and the corner weights. the weight transfers are also MUCH faster. trying to countersteer to "catch" the car is much harder now cause i have to be really fast. im used to it now but im no where near as comfortable as i used to be.

if your gonna get sways, stay away from RB. the front is WAY too stiff on a car that has a soft rear.

I have the RB front bar with endlink holes drilled 3/4" forward of the RB holes to make it even stiffer coupled with the softer OE auto trans rear bar, along with 600# front and 325# coilover springs and the car has so much oversteer it's almost impossible to drive without spinning

I just ordered the stiffer Speedsource adjustable blade-arm front bar from Mazda Motorsports; 1.25" OD 0.25" wall, $518. I'll post some pics so you can see what a real racing swaybar looks like.
