well tht sucks that you had to go through all that, then turn around and take them off.
Here in cali, being that low was not really a big problem, just had to be a little carefull. all well, at least you got some cool pictures out of it. it looks great! |

oh yea real nice! hmm i have that same factory kit, but my side skirts are the flares instead of the entire skirt, and based off of what you got on your car, it looks like it would work on mine. i guess my only concern is that i dont think id be able to go into any store driveway such as a dunkin donuts or the mall near here because they have these grades to get into them if you know what i mean. how was your driveability affected by these? i know you said it would scrape just about everything but i think i can get used to that, id just have to change my driving habits i guess. also like with most springs did your car bounce a lot? and if you could PM with a price i think id be interested.
I you saw a picture of Michael's car from ground level you'd understand how low his car really is with the additional body kit items. Have him hold his hand or a dollar bill next to the car on the ground to show you a perspective of how much clearance you would actually have...it aint going to be much. Look back a couple of post with Speeddemon's car. Look at the pictures which are lower to the ground that show you how much clearance he had....and then add an appearance lip on in, and side flares.....IT is a GREAT drop, but not for anyone looking to go with a body kit or anything larger than stock wheels/tires. |
^^ ding ding ding, 10 pts for Keith!
Speed, I think it was easy for you because you didn't have those but I still remember you pulling into the meets and I could see you scraping a little to get into the driveway. With appearance pkg .... |
...and that entry to the Pirate City Tattoo lot was an easy apron....nothing like some of the ones I saw when I was in downtown Los Angeles. I had issues even with my drop and the MS bodykit.
|
I understand... i'm just sayin is sucks that he had to go through all that to get the springs on. the headach, and then have to take them off.... really blows.
|
yea im gonna take your advice, i'll try to find something that isnt going to be as low and not kill my car, thanks guys
|
how does everybody feel about eibachs?
|
i have them and like them, at first i thought it didn't lower enought, but they settle over time to just the right height!!!! this is the second car that i had put eibachs on
|
I am using Tein S Tech on my RX8, ride quality is quite stiff but still is tolerable for me. I guess it's 'looks' before 'comfort' for me. Haha

I had STechs on stock struts and it was a alright setup, but there was still a little wheel gap with the 245/40/18 tires. I saw that the Sprint springs have a 2" drop, front and rear, I really don't want the rear to be tucked/slammed or whatever. I there anyway to circumvent this result with the Sprint springs?
|
If you really want to control ride height you need height adjustable coilovers like the Tien basics. If it's just for looks you don't need anything fancy.
|
But if it's just for looks you probably want the drop to make the wheel gap EVEN. If front & rear drop even amounts the front will still look jacked up compared to the rear.
|
S techs would be the way I would go if I was to lower an RX8 again. Ride height and ride quality were both good.
If you want to customize the ride height though, coilovers are the only way to go. |
word. :)

Ground Control! Save us! I wish they made one of there kits for our cars..... heck I think they make one for almost every other Mazda sports car ever made. There kits for the Miata if I remember correctly were very stiff. :banghead:
10kg 8kg FR ftw! |
speeddemon is running a setup on his Miata....great product, but more a race application than anything I would want to drive on the street daily.
|
I know the GC kit had the ability to be fairly brutal on the Miata. I didn’t think it was that bad with the FCM bump stops and the correct dampeners. I have herd bad things when paired with the “Yellows” and stock bump stops but could have this twisted. I was running higher rate springs on my old Miata and loved it but I had adjustable dampeners.
I think the GC's on a 8 would be great, adjustable lowering springs with much stiffer then stock rates! MMM we can only hope. O mazdaspeed springs why could you not have been rated as we thought you were. |
totally agree with you on everything....I also bought the MS suspension for my 8 based on the initial thought that they would be stiffer than stock...oh well.

Amen brotha. yeah the GC kit for the miata has a couple different choices. obviously I went with the super mega stiff option (700 pound front, 375 rear). I also dont understan why they dont make a kit fo rthe RX-8. back in my RX-8 days I called them to see if they had a kit in the workings, they said no, and at that time there were NO plans to make them. of course this would have been 2 years ago. |
B&G Suspension Products
I have more info regarding this company's lowering springs awaiting further permission to post the correspondence. So far so good but not my "dream spring rates" just yet. Still searching......... Ground control come though already..... My RX is still waiting. :uhh:
PS the only way I knew about this company is though a advertisement they had with a 8 in the Aug 2004 issue of Scc. They seem like a good company that was more then willing to answer my questions. And that is alot more then I can say then for others I contacted. |
Whats up guys Mike here from B&G Suspension.. Mike (Hoss -05) Emailed me asking about the Spring rates of our products.. So I thought to come on here and add the spring rates and also a pic of the Springs. let me know if you guys have any questions.
Spring rates are Front 32.5 Kg/cm ( 185.60 lbs) Rear 25 Kg/cm (142.77 lbs) http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f7...RX8Springs.jpg :) |
We carry these springs on our site, have heard some interesting stuff from other distributors.
|
damn.... (not that I care anymore)... those rates are ust like every other spring out there. why wont anyone make a STIFF lowering spring?
anyways, whats the drop on them? I will add them to the first post. I will link to Fluid Motorsports. |
