I think it was Fanman, but someone did a pretty good thread about Springs a while back, you could either link to that one or use it to build on this one.
|
thanks, Ill look for that thread. I did a small search before I started and I did not find anything, but I could have searched harder then I did. :)
I think a swaybar swaybar swaybar thread is next :) |
Thats a lot of springs!

I think a swaybar swaybar swaybar thread is next :) Here's the info All numbers taken either from the manufacturer, or from other posts on this forum. Some we can verify, and a few we can't. Just keep that in mind. . . Stock 'Sport' Suspension spring rates on the RX-8 are 156/113 (F/R) Mazdaspeed: 280/190 Tein S-Tech: 207/145 Tein H-Tech: 179/129 Tanabe GF: 179/146 Tanabe NF: 162/112 Racing Beat: 187/136 Eibach: 180/130 (progressive, so this varies a bit) H&R: 195/141 (progressive, so this varies a bit) As for the question on coilovers, all aftermarket adjustable 'coilovers' come with a shock and spring. The more expensive ones also come with the upper mount, usually of the 'pillowball' variety (a spherical metal bushing in a metal plate rather than the rubber top mounts that most cars use from the factory). Tein Basics, for example, re-use the OEM top mounts and a few of the small hardware bits. Tein Flex do not re-use any of the OEM coilover assembly. The aftermarket coilovers also come with proprietary springs, so one would never use their OEM springs with their new coilovers. Hopefully that makes sense? Heres the link https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/eibach-tein-tanabe-mazdaspeed-69256/ |
updated.... thanks!

|
here is the link to all the info... with drops.... and yes i reqested it all be in one place.....
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...53&postcount=1 so search, search, search might have been better.... the info is out there... beers  |
yeah i know, I saw that post already. but if you look at my list, there are a lot more info in my list.
also, my list has prices. so maybe read read read is what you should do. :) i like my list better...... so there. :bootyshak :) |
time to add a second column so that the first post doesn't scroll all the way down the page. Maybe put them in alphabetical order.
|
ok,
i will bite... the prices are for where??? are these retail??? ebay. pulled out of your ass????? :) unless you link to the price they are worthless.... the info is good but been done.... i am happy that you are thrilled with your thread..... just like flywheels flywheels flywheels.... it is helpful, but the info is already there.... what is next washer fluid washer fluid washer fluid???? btw, i have read, read, read. that is how i know where this stuff is:wallbash: beers  |
and I am happy you have no problem with finding the info by searching through multiple threads. I thought I would be a nice guy and put all the info in the same F#$in place, so that people that are interested in getting a lot of info in one single constanty updated post. (not just thread)
I have been told by several people that they are thankfull someone finally put ALL info in ONE thread. as I said before, there are other threads that are close, but a lot of them are missing some info. like the spring thread you just posted, it only has 9 springs, mine has 18. if you can count that means I have TWICE as much info as your all mighty thread you posted. Just as much info as the link you posted, AND MORE. seriously man, if you dont like the fact that I put all the info in one place, dont look in my threads. is it really that hard for you to just keep to your self? I mean come on, what did I do to you? does this thread really bother you that much? if you have a problem with the places I got the prices, or simply would like me to add a link, all you have to do is ask. not tell me how stupid this thread is without a link. but since searching the entire internet for info is what you like to do, then why dont you just search for the prices I posted? |

:yesnod:
|
ok I must be missing something then. in the link you posted https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...953&postcount=1
there is nothing on that list I dont have on my list already...... so what are you talking about? yes my list is not perfect yet, that is the point in letting everyone add what they know so I can add it all to the list...... just like when Kwescott added springtech, now springtech is on the list. yes there is a lot of "?" marks. but that is because I have not seen any info on that. by all means if you have more info feel free to add. if not, shut up. :nono: I never claimed trying to be the big dog, simply trying to put every spring in one location. I still dont see the harm in that. :bootyshak |
swoope could have accomplished the same goal by providing a suggestion for the thread, and that would be to post links next to prices. Rather, he took the easy way, sounding like a forum troll and making rediculous comments...this thread has been done, blah, blah, blah. This is not a discussion thread. If you don't find it useful, then don't subscribe. See yah around swoope.
|
Amen brotha.... that's what i kept trying to say.
all he had to do is ask or suguest, and not be a pecker about it. I even said several times that I was not done, but I had to start someplace. anyways, more info has been added. if anyone has anything to add, just add it and I will update the first post. |
Do you guys also need someone to hold your hand while you piss too?
|
can we get back to springs please?

what does that have to do with anything? do you post just to get your count up or something? |
yep! :p:
|
Hey - I should
|
Try that
|
too
|
wow,
gave you the link and you still have the drops wrong.... note. the tanabe springs can have only one drop.... not a range of drop.... they are not coilovers... (btw i gave you the link for the answer to the ? ) if you are going to be the god.... own up.. after you get that part fixed i will give you the next hint. beers  |
see that wasnt so hard was it. the web site that I found the info on had pretty genaric info. all you had to do from the start was point that out rather then make a big deal out of it.
you keep saying that i want to be top dog, or god...... please show me when I ever said that. you just dont get it do you. these threads are simply a place for EVERYONE to put the info that they know about a product IN THE SAME PLACE. i never claimed I knew everything, nor did I ever claim any of this info was not searchable on the internet... as I have said over and over and over to you. it is simply a place that you can find all the info IN THE SAME PLACE. with that said, thank you for your contribution. |
dont take me to serious... i for get to use the smileys...
i am very intersted in how you are going to do the sways thread.... as i know of no real way to rate them, other than diameter... btw, the eibach drop is 1.2 front and rear... beers  |
thank you, I thought 1.8 in the rear and only 1.2 in the front was a little odd. I wonder how what ever web site I found that on got those numbers??
sway bar post would be a little more difficult. I know I would have to use wall thickness, and Diamiter. I belive some are also making them shorter or longer by a bit..... i will look into that. |
According to http://www.dpeweb.com/ProductDetails...3&vehicleID=58 drop for Tein H-Tech: Front = 1.0" Rear= 0.3" and their cost is $168.00.
|
Thank you! Info has bee added.
|
QUALIFIED-JAPANESE-PARTS These guys on ebay charge $45 shipping & insurance for most of their stuff.
Tein S Tech - $150 includes shipping & insurance http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TEIN-...spagenameZWD1V Tanabe GF - $240 includes shipping & insurance http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TANAB...9081QQtcZphoto - Cesar - |
Look at you "Cesar the deal finder"! :)
|
I'm taking the plunge and ordering the Tein S Tech.
The reason I'm going with the Tein S Tech is because of the drops. Front is 1.3" Rear is .7" I have the stock springs now, and it looks like I lowered the rear because of the the speaker box and amp. If I get these, hopefully it will even it out a bit. If anyone sees any reason why my RX8 and the Tein S Tech should not be joined together in holy suspension, speak now or forever hold your peace. - Cesar - |
Do it....Make sure you take some good before and afters for the thread.

Springs installed.
Big Thanks to Speeddemon32 and Kwescott!
I asked Speeddemon32 and Kwescott for help to install the springs this week if possible since I may be able to make use of them this weekend. Anyways, long story short... The only night they could do it was Tuesday, but I had to be somewhere and couldn't help. Well, they took my car and did all the work. I bought the pizza and beer, and they did everything else. I only drove to work this morning, and it's 90% highway so I haven't really felt a big difference yet. I did take a couple of right turns at about 30mph and it felt really solid. Like I said, this weekend I'll put it to the test. - Cesar - |
no prob bob.
hope you enjoy them. ;) oh yeah, and dont forget.... not only did you buy pizza and beer, you also baught a new set of spring collapsers cause mine took a crap right in the middle of the first spring removal. :( |

to the best of my knowlage yes. ;)

vivid racing says about the Espelir springs:
"They lower the front of the car about 1.5" and the rear about 1.3". |
what's the factory say?
|
I dont know too much about this, so was wondering what the rates mean? higher lb = stiffer? :icon5:
|
the rate is how much pressure ("weight") is needed to compress the spring one inch. So, a stiffer spring would have a higher weight needed to compress it...a softer spring would require less force....hope that helps you.
|
Stupid question, but...in the future at some point, I would like to swap out my stock shocks/springs, and would like to know what is comparable to Mazdaspeed, as far as performance and feel (ie, any aftermarket items that just get name brand to Mazdaspeed - MS6 has this, based on what I have read)? Based on what I have found out, the combine cost for parts alone is roughly $600.
|
tein s. tech springs should be closest in feel to MS springs:
MS front drop: 0.8 rear drop: 0.8 total drop: 1.6 front lbs./in.: 280 front increase: 79% rear lbs./in.: 190 rear increase: 68% total lbs./in.: 470 Tein front drop: 1.4 rear drop: 0.7 total drop: 2.1 front lbs./in.: 207 front increase: 33% rear lbs./in.: 145 rear increase: 28% total lbs./in.: 352 |
Exactly!
a 300 pound spring mean that if 300 pounds is applied to it, it would collaps one inch. 600 would be 2 inces. and so on. a progressive spring is a little differant. let say 300 for the first inch, and additional 350 for the second inch, and additional 450 for the 3rd inch.... you get the hint. :) EDIT: wow I was a little late on that reply. :Peace: |
