sound!
Just test drove a six speed rx8 and really liked the car. The only thing i did not really care for was the sound! The rotary sounded really high pitched and not throaty at all. Is there any exhaust that they make for the rx8 that gives it a deep throaty sound like a nice 6 cylinder or even large 4 cylinder car? thanks for the help!

While the stock exhaust is very much adequate for the car, it does lack in sound dept. I got the Racing Beat exhaust which gives the car better end note as well as a few HP. Use the search feature of this thread and look for an old post here with sound clips of different aftermarket exhausts.

Maybe the rotary is not the motor for you. Buy a Chevy. They make nice 6 cylinders which you can make as throaty as you want. Just be prepared for the high pitch sound to roll by you at some point. It will be easy to spot as the driver will have a huge **** eating grin on their face.
Sorry for the comments - bad morning.

I to have the Racing Beat exhaust and RP mid-pipe and love the sound from the both of them :D . Over the weekend I did a road trip with 12 other RX-7 and Rx-8 and I had one of the other drivers tell me that my car knows sounds like a race car in the upper rpm. I hope that this will help please feel free to pm for any other questions .

Momentum Keeps Me Going
I have a Cork Sport Exhaust and it makes a very nice throaty growl. At track days peps come up and say how they LOVE the sound of my rotary winding up on the track! Me too :D, but it sounds even nicer outside the car than I hear inside!

That sound never really goes away.
You can change the pitch of it, but the rotary always has a nasaly tone to it. Without individual pistons firing you're never really going to get a rumble or a lope sound characeristic of a piston engine.
