Anything new on the Harrison RX8 programmer, or has the AccessPort pretty much made it no longer interesting?
Is the OBDScan-APEX a good product for troubleshooting and logging?

The AP has now data logging (up tp 10 logs) and can read trouble codes. I just got mine yaaay!

What purpose does this thread serve being forever stickied here? :dunno:

otakurx 02-15-2010 02:45 PM

well the first few posts can be seen as worth while, but as for the rest, I agree with Team.

*sigh* another potentially awesome thread gone to crap cause people could not take their arguements elsewhere .... :( ... I was looking forward to the nudity...

MazdaManiac 04-16-2010 12:06 AM

Its actually not such a bad thread after all the BDC bulsh*t got cropped out of it.

stinksause 04-16-2010 07:30 AM

True, but I had such HIGH expectations after the first page .... So, MM, w.e happened to the video or did you just decide to do the webcast seminars as a result of it. Is there an upcoming seminar this summmer?

xsnipersgox 05-02-2010 04:40 AM

MM i just happen to be reading it and some stuff i don't think are 100% right in the 1st few posts.. at least it didn't match what my professor teaching internal combustion at University of Texas at Austin said. o.O

Well, instead of making vague comments, start arguing!

I don't think the being rich or lean affect the flame speed as much as fuel type. at least it's negligible.

.....

actually i read further, at post 12 it is clarified. great write up.

i guess i'll toss in the formula that we play with for some ppl to learn a bit later. gota dig the book out. i'll do that when i pack for moving in a week.

Lambda has a significantly greater effect on flame front speed than AKI.

Uh-huh.

At least the stuff I post is from real world experience and not plagiarized. I don't have to lie, take other people's words, then claim them as my own in an attempt to make myself look good on an Internet forum like you evidently do. Let me guess ... fake it 'til you make it? How about write your own thoughts from your own, (allegedly) vast experience?

Way to represent a legitimate business, Jeff!

(By the way, it also appears that you've still not taken my advice about getting rid of the half-nude, half-your-age girl picture rotation from your avatar...)

Enjoy the read. Be sure to not let anyone know when you do credit the original writer of that FAQ when you update that article on the website.

Slow on the uptake, eh? You might want to check in with your minions (or, minion, I suppose) more often.

So, what would convince you that any advice you give would be worth taking - least of all advice against one of the few things around here that enjoys nearly universal support? Lay off the Jesus for a little while.

As far as "real world" experience goes, you might want to tread lightly on that one. Glass houses and all.

Just stick with selling your customers used crap. I'm sure they'll enjoy it.
Meanwhile no one - that means, quite literally NO ONE - has tuned more RX-8s than I have. Period.
So, wherever you want to lay your allegiance for original words (as if you have ever actually conjured anything original in your greasy, back-woods life), the application therein will always supersede concept.

P.S. - None of the individuals depicted in my avatars are half my age. They all are, at least, four sevenths my age.

P.P.S. - Two words for you - Masking Tape.

Quoted for posterity -

Sticks and stones...

Strata-R 06-25-2010 09:49 AM

back on topic

so i watched the AccessPORT video on the Mazda Maniacs website but before thinking about spending $300 on such a device, I'd like to know more detailed information. Is the device really worth the money on a stock RX-8? What are the specific numbers on the improvements?

stinksause 06-25-2010 11:04 AM

9.9 of 10 times .. yes ... there is the odd chance that you oem map will be very good for your Rx8 and you won't really see much gain

but AP is much more than just a tune ... in my mind, it is def worth it ... read up on some of the other functionalities and take the seminar!

maxxdamigz 06-25-2010 11:12 AM

The AP basically lets you do 4 things:
1. Tune to your car's specific configuration with an eye toward more power, or better MPG, or whatever your goal is.
2. Pass an emissions scan.
3. Increase oil injection for better engine longevity.
4. Decrease the fan activation temperatures.

On a stock car, you might not see much in 1, but you could see a noticeable power gain. Item 2 won't apply. Items 3 and 4 do apply. When you look at the cost of mid-pipes, catbacks, and intakes, the Cobb AP is quite a bargain.

I'm guessing you can also control fuel injection?

stinksause 06-27-2010 07:17 PM

fuel injection ... ignition timing are both controllable ... basically anything that has to remotely to do with the engine is controllable.

Cobb access port

Hey I bought an Agency Power exhaust and now Im ready to do another upgrade. I've been told getting a new intake wont do much but make it sound better so I've been looking at the Cobb accessport. definitly going to get one. I just wanna know if it's worth it for 600 bucks to get it from mazda maniac with their calibration settings in there. Anyone had or used this yet? If not I can get it for 450 by itself then I was gonna get an AEM cold air intake. Any suggestions or feedback?

suggestion, if you arent an expert tuner yourself, then get it from MM with the tuning service. otherwise it'll be useless, what good is a flash tool if you dont have any "tunes" to reflash with? the one that comes from Cobb is very very poor, and usually doesnt run well at all unless you have a completely stock intake tract. even then its as bad or worse than the OEM tuning

also get it before they are gone, you got maybe a week left

Ok awesome I just ordered it. What's your feeling on intake? worth it or not? Should I get something else instead of an intake

Bump. So MM, did you scratch the idea of the video?
