Are you camera shy Jeff????
|
Please don't make me laugh so hard - I'm supposed to be the boss doing important things on my computer. Jeff shy??????
|
LOL. Definitely not.
Its an issue of the concise vs. complete. It just keeps growing limbs each time I edit a new section. |
I know I just like messing with you!
|
Oh, I know. I just wouldn't want anyone to feel misled in their opinions of my garishness.

Well it is.... but so far I have not thought of Jeff in that manner.... but the day ain't over yet.

I feel smarter every time I read this thread. I still prefer mechanical tuning. ahh those were the days.........
|
"Drool" screwdriver, timing light, filler gauge, dial gauge, vacuum gauge, your ear and your butt ----Drool. Those WERE the days.
Hell i still cant post a picture here! oldscdragger |
Do not think that you are alone in any of those "drools", including the pictures
|
I always had trouble setting points with a feeler guage. A dwell meter made it a lot easier. I like the ignition systems of today.
|
When I was a kid, if you were running a little rich all you had to do was adjust the carb, check the points, vac and timing. Now you have to hook up a computer, learn to use some fancy software and pray you don't punch the wrong button and go too lean.

No, that went out of style the year before - they used parchment:lol2:

I think there's a lot more ahead. What we're seeing with engine management is quickly happening to suspension and handling. We'll soon be tuning shock (damper), roll control, anti-dive, etc with our laptops, too. We'll have to learn more than we ever wanted to know about 'transient response'. :(

When I was a kid, we did the "Twist the Disty and Pray" as well.
It sucked. Jets, points, floats and vacuum advance ALWAYS sucked. When EFI became common place, the world of automotive tinkering became actually useful. Saying those "old" days were somehow better is akin to saying Medieval heath care was better than modern health care - because it had fewer choices to complicate things. |

Who said it was better, I was just commenting that it was easier and I understood it. WTF is "twist the disty and pray"?
Disty = Distributor... Pray = Something people used to do when they still believed in figments of their imagination... Glad I could be of service...please come again! |

Actually I'm from the Cretaceous era and do not understand the concept of "pray" as the only figments of my imagination are little stinky devils. Actually I am frustrated that this current "tuning" concept elude me.
If only I were a just a figment of your imagination...unfortunately...everyone else seems to be having the same nightmare as you are... Heh... |
