So I just ordered a new clutch...

The racing beat clutch, the sport/race clutch for my RX-8. It seems I'm going to need to get it replaced regardless -- and to no avail has Mazda made any attempt to fix my clutch under warranty. I am at 25000 miles, so they won't repair it

Hate to hear that Herc.
Please keep the parts they take out, and if you can, take a pic of the clutch pads, or at least measure the pad thickness.

If I remember correctly, you mainly do city type driving? Lots of stop & go traffic? Just wondering if that contributed to the problem.

You are replacing the throw-out bearing too?

ALWAYS replace the throw-out bearing when you replace a clutch. What kind of driving to you do to wear it out so fast?

I have no idea... I'm not that aggressive on launching, so I think it was a mechanical failure -- probably the pressure plate not firmly attached. Either way, it's out of warranty so I got screwed

Throwout bearing is being replaced also.
