Should have come from the factory like this...
I recently put on the Mazdaspeed Flywheel and swaybars and, too avoid any possible trouble with Big Brother, lets just say I took it for some agressive driving on private property.
Holy cow! Why bother with the Canzoomer, The flywheel rocks! Way sharper throttle response and feels like it's pulling harder all the way to redline. The Swaybars are perfect, toning down the body roll without affecting the ride quality.
I also have a Wilwood Big Brake kit. A bit of overkill, but with the huge unsprung weight savings it sharpens up the steering to match the throttle. I ran with a well driven NSX all day and was taking it easy. Big thumbs up on all counts.

I love my flywheel too feels like i'm riding a motorcycle, very revy and very smooth. Great for rev matching through quick turns.

Having "experienced" a CZ I much prefer the flywheel. Response is better, you keep your warranty fully intact, no fooling with tuning, and no worries about burnt coils. Also zero drivability probelms. Like I said, it should have come from the factory with it.

PM "Docofmind" about the Wilwood kit. It uses Wilwood Calipers and Rotors with a custom milled hat to clear the stock 18" wheels. Saved 13lbs per wheel!

the flywheel itself @ 500 smackers is a great investment. however, don't forget to take into consideration installation costs. if you want to keep the factory warranty intact as you say it will have to be installed by a certified mazda dealer, it won't keep the warranty just because its 'mazdaspeed.', the labor has to be ceritifed as well. flywheel jobs usually are listed at about 7-8 hrs by most dealerships, and @ $75+ an hour.....better save that pocket change.

I got the MS flywheel done as well.
Is it worth $545? Yes. Is it worth $850 (dealer installed), borderline yes.
I like it mainly for the BETTER drivability. It is easier to drive around town and you find yourself far less bogged down in the low RPMs.
It also makes downshifting smoother. I used to have all sorts of problems downshifting before or after turns.
Will it improve quarter mile times? Its arguable (meaning I don't want to debate it) but I don't think much.
One thing is for sure, rlfletch is right, the RX-8 should have come this way.

You guys are right, why wasn't the RX8 spec with a lightweight flywheel from the factory. Mazda went through the trouble of giving us carbon fiber drive shaft. ...Mazda should've completed the package.

What's a canzoomer run these days? $650? Plus a cable. Plus a canscan. Let's not forget your time to tune it so maybe it wil run right. File it all under: Not worth it for me. Irvine Mazda put my Flywheel in for ~$475. Not cheap but much more peace of mind. Still, I really don't understand why the light flywheel isn't stock.
