zerohour,

A silencer & resonator are almost the same. Their sole purpose is to remove that annoying pitch exhaust occasionally makes. Most of them are strait though so they do not restrict the air pass like a cat does.

I bought and installed the "vivid Racing" testpipe. I had to install a resonator on it to reduce the annoying pitch at high RPM.

The "vivid Racing" testpipe = $250.00
Resonator with Install = $60.00
Total = $310.00

I bet you can.....Now all you need is a little more fuel. I just ordered Ric Shaw's Piggyback ECU. This will allow me to modify my fuel & timing maps. This type of tuning is necessary to get optimal performance when you add Intake & exhaust.

Why did you go with Ric Shaw's as opposed to Canzoomers?

good question, this is actually the first time ive ever heard of "Ric Shaw" and with so many testimonials to Canzoomers I question the decision to go against it .... (unless you know something we dont?)

Guys,

Let’s make this clear, I don't want to discredit anyone here. I'm just explaining why I choose Ric's Piggyback ECU.

Canzoomers mod is what’s known in the computer world as a BLACK BOX system. You buy it, don’t know what is inside, and you can’t make any changes to it. On the other hand, Ric's ECU comes with a tune, but it allows "ME" to modify the tune through Windows for optimal performance.

How is someone going to properly tune your ECU remotely? Everyone’s car is different. For example, I have the R/E intake & you may have a stock intake, these are all factors that have to be considered when tuning an ECU. This is the sole reason why you have to put your car on a dyno with an Air/Fuel reader “LM1”, and only then can you properly tune your car for performance. Any experience tuner can agree.

Canzoomers mod is great if you plan to keep your RX8 stock & if you aren’t really worried about getting the MOST HP out of your RX-8. For those of us who really want to optimally tune your cars & aren’t afraid of splicing our wire harness, Ric’s mod is definitely the way to go.
