I got the Rotary Performance cat in summer '05.

In November '05 I got my car inspected fine, but my CEL turned on in December '05. The dealer said my cat wasn't getting hot enough and the cold weather might have something to do with it.

Anyway, the CEL basically stayed on from Dec '05 until today when for no apparent reason it went off. Given that my inspection inspired in Nov '06 I seized the oppurtunity to get my car inspected.

In Houston, all you need in order to pass is for the OBII port to not report any errors. So there weren't any current errors so my car passed. The tech did spot the old CEL codes and asked me about them:

"You have some old codes for your catalytic converter. Has your check engine light been on recently?"

"Oh, yeah I had a CEL last week and I had a muffler shop tighten some bolts on my exhaust and the CEL went away." (Total B.S.)

"O.k., that explains it." and then he put my sticker on.
