I've never considered any engine oil expensive. 24 bucks per DE? Heck yes it's worth it, it'll keep the good times rolling.

Just judging by the prelimanry results it seems to prove the obvious. Oils changes are necessary also is there any way to replicate the combustion process?

Its been tough to figure out which way to go on this, I've been running dino ever since i got my 8, but.... *sigh* after much consideration....

I'm goin to start using Royal Purple because RG is very smart, and MM is very loud. (and i dont trust my own mazda dealership anymore...)

I've never had a problem with it. I've also never had a failure due to conventional oil use so go figure.

Hey, I'm hoping the following oils gets tested:

1. Castrol, synthetic.

2. Red Line ester based synthetic

I'm not a big fan of oils with a really wide viscosity range because it is additives that make that range and they boil off eventually.

I do pre-mix "heavily" (8oz per tank), but that is not really heavy if the OMP isn't doing much, if anything. That is only 225:1.
MM, whats the right amount of amsoil premix on a daily driver , non modded Rx8?

I don't know about Amsoil specifically, but if your car already consumes a normal amount of oil (say, 1/2 quart or more every 3000 miles of normal driving), I'd use 4 oz per full tank.
If you have doubts about the proper function of your OMP (like, little or no consumption at all), you can go to what I feel is a maximum at 8 oz per full tank.

A full tank is, in this context, about 13.5 gallons.

Castrol Syntec 0w30 European formula ("Made in Germany" on the back) would be a nice addition as it's touted on BITOG as being a true Group IV/PAO oil. If you have the time, I think might even have half a bottle from changing the oil in the wife's car last week.
