Any fitment issues with the BHR radiator??? having to return my Mishimoto one due to not fitting and would like a heads up on this one before I order it.

 

Fitment is not a concern with anything BHR. They develop their products ON an RX-8. Usually more than 1 RX-8. If you found a fitment problem with a product of theirs, you would be a first ever, and Ray would never live it down.

 

Thanks for your reply, that is exactly what I needed to know, knowledge of that persuades me to order the BHR one.

My 8 has been on jack stands for weeks now, itching to drive it.

 

No fitment issues at all. I would suggest go for BHR.

Great choice sir! you will not be dissapointed, and make certain of sealing the outside edges with foam like Digger1911 mentioned. It WILL make or break the cooling system.

Heres an test i did. Mind CRH and i installed his Radiator on October of 2007. I took me this long to seal it correctly. (Bad me)

BHR 70/30 coolant ratio. No foam, @ 75mph in 110 ambient temps.
205 - 220 coolant temp. (No heater used to act as second radiator)

Same as above, except with foam around edges, Coolant temps 190 to 194.
Testing done a day apart , Sept 7th and 8th 2012.

 

any differences between the ron davis and the bhr as far as cooling capacity goes?

04 mt 130k. I ordered the Racing Beat silicon radiator hoses to go with my BHR radiator which are getting installed with a new motor next week. I assume they will match up. I noticed the pics you guys posted have the smaller hoses and the RB kit only has the 3 larger hoses. What's up with that?

 

BHR radiator is the way to go, fits great, runs great.

I ordered the "Mishimoto Silicon Hose Kit" $98 from jmautoracing.com which was sept 2012.
it included the Upper Hose & Lower Hose. since they are 6 silicon threaded they fit tighter and you have to get new clamps that are adjustable, factory spring clamps won't cut it.

The lower hose was really really difficult though and it's on there almost to the butt of the radiator but coolant still fizzles out for some reason, clamp is good and tight, but I always keep an eye on my coolant just as often as my oil level.

 

I need help! I have a 2004 with a automatic transmission and need to replace my radiator. Because the radiator has 2 lines for the transmission cooler sticking out about 4 inches at the bottom, I tried to remove it from the top. All was well until I tried to take out the cooling fans and shroud, which can't be maneuver out. I think if I cut the plastic bottom driver side corner of the should off about 1/2 inch it should come out.
Has any one DIY replaced a radiator for RX* with a A/T before?

I swapped out a Rod Davis radiator not too long ago. We left the AC condensor and fan/shroud in place and just slid the old OE radiator out and new RD radiator in. You might need a second person to help.

 

Thanks for responding, so you slid the radiator out from the bottom, did you have to jack the car up very high. The problem is, winter just ended and the car is in the back yard on grass and the ground is still wet and soft.

 

Was the radiator you did for a RX8 with a Automatic transmission? there is a big difference in the radiators.

 

I did it with a BHR automatic version when he still offered them. It's not that difficult. Raise the car up and safely place on jack stands. Then disconnect everything and slide out from the bottom. An extra set of hands is extremely helpful and highly recommended, especially on reinstall. Take your time and don't forget to put foam around the new radiator. Hope this helps and good luck.

Glad everything worked out for you. Which radiator did you end up using? My last 8 I put the Mazmart water pump and thermostat in coupled with the BHR radiator and my temps dropped all the way to 180-190 screaming up and down the Pali Hwy here on Oahu. My temps consistently stayed that low and the cooling fans hardly ever came on.

 

Only way is through the bottom. if u see my DIY u would have known

 

I would like to see this DIY of yours. where can I find it.
