Replacement Radiator Suggestion

So my radiator gave up and so did the hoses. So i think its time to have a nice aftermarket radiator. Also I would need recommendation on complete coolant hose kit.

I read the forums and found options to be
1. Mizu radiator ( Thanks 9krmprx8 for excellent write up) + fans
2 Stillen Radiator ( Could not find good discussion) + fans

Coolant hose option
1. Mizu hose kit- but it has only upper and lower hoses. I need complete hose kit
2.Autobahn88 hose kit from Ebay( hong kong) - amy suggestions
3. samco - maybe

Fans
1.Mizu- 9krpm had some issues with these)
2. Flex a lite ( any update 9k?)

Need experts to chime in

Thanks in Advance

So these are new things going on my 8

2. Autobahn88 Hose kit
3. OEM thermostat
4. OEM Coolant bottle.

Still not decided on Rad- fans. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,

I know you already purchase the Mizu Rad. To bad you did not know of the BHR Rad. I understand it works very well.

The Samco hoses are a good bet since they figured out the problem with the US part #
BHR has those as well I think.

Regardless of the radiator you buy, be sure to reuse the foam on the sides and bottom of the new radiator.

Thanks Guys,

BHR was an expensive option. But I thought it would have been an overkill for a daily spirited driving. Also fellow member 9k had some good results with Mizu. So went ahead with it

Samco was again and expensive option . I saw other hose kits, but they has upper and lower radiator hoses only. I needed complete hose kit , so went ahead with Autobahn88 kit. I read some good reviews. Let see how they turn up.

@Digger: I plan to use foam around Radiator, but dont know what exactly to get. Can you please help on what to get. I am guessing home depot will have it.

Thanks in Advance,
Harshal

Thanks 1.3 for confirming about Autobahn kit.

Did you have any issues regarding fitment ?

These are the hoses that I will be receiving

5 x Silicone Heater Hoses

(1 x Silicone Heater Hose (Facelift model))

3 x Silicone Radiator Hose

Please confirm if you got the same

Thanks in Advance,

Thanks Digger.

Now got into new issue. Sparkplugs.com do not have Mizu Radiator in stock and it will available on 1/7/2013. So I think i need to find some alternative.

Can anyone suggest alternate place to buy Mizu radiator or any Aluminum radiator. I am refraining myself from going for BHR now , so that I can save some money towards suspension.

Please help

Thanks in Advance,
Harshal

The BHR is worth the money, as is the Ron Davis. What kind of suspension upgrades are you purchasing from the money saved from buying a cheaper radiator?

I understand BHR is worth the money, but I was thinking saving $200 towards funds for
1. Struts and springs
2. Sway bars and endlinks.

Saving bit by bit .

If nothing works out then BHR is the only option

It's your $ and I'm not saying you need an expensive radiator like the BHR but a known weak point in the RX8 is the cooling system, where as the RX8 is known for having great handling and suspension from the factory. So why cheap out in fixing the known weak points and put the extra money towards what our cars' strongest attribute is?

I have the exact same kit. Only fitment issue, was the same one as the samco kit. One hose doesn't seem to go anywhere, I think it's for the driver side heater hose, but never tried to put it on, was pressed for time and doing a lot of other things to the car at the same time. My current heater hoses looked like they were changed already from a previous owner so I left them be, when the time comes I'll try putting the hose on, or just go with generic hoses for the heater. Now my friend with the samco kit got the same said hose to fit his, but the hose was to large (diameter wise) and he had to do a little improvising to get it to seal, but it's been holding for a few weeks now.

Now I'm not a silicone hose expert, this was the first time I used silicone hoses, but quality was equal to, or greater than the samco kit in my opinion.

Here are a few more pics of my kit.

-EDIT-

Be extremely careful when replacing the small hose ("L" shaped) that goes from the top of the radiator to the overflow bottle, that little nipple on the radiator is very fragile, we actually cut the old hose off instead of pulling it to avoid disaster. In fact, I would cut all the hoses (2 big ones) going to the radiator off instead of pulling them.

If you search you will find some fitment issues with them. Not only in the RX-8 community either.

Ok so update is Mizu Radiators are back orders ( called everyone even ebay), so wait is 6 months minimum.

So the only option I see in BHR Rad. Does anyone have BHR contact number where I can call and check if the radiators are in stock or should I just go ahead and order from BHR website?

Does BHR give any discount to RX8club members?

Thanks in Advance,
Harshal

I too have been in the process of replacing pretty much my entire cooling system. Sometime ago I noticed that the car was leaking cooland and it's been getting progressivly worse. I'm going through about a gallon of the stuff every week now. I pour it in and I could literally see it start dripping out.

So here are the upgrades that I decided to go with:

Ron Davis radiatory (had to wait three weeks for it to be made)
Racing Beat Screen set (might as well add these)
Samco Complete Hose Kit (there was a six week wait on these)
Weapon R Universal Reservoir

I doubt that I'll do any kind of write up after the instal as the boards are already filled with them but I'll be happy to answer any specific questions about performance, etc.

Had the same issue with the coolant reservoir hose breaking the nipple on the radiator. Tried to go with Mizu but was backordered, got the Mishimoto one....here are the issues with it:
1) one of the fan mount holes do NOT line up with the radiator. Solution: drill the hole bigger on the fan.

2) the 2 main mounting points (radiator to bracket to frame) will not work. The nut will NOT fit in the in the small triangle space to allow you to put the rubber bumpers in..... solution.... zip ties...lol (open to other thoughts)

3) the nipple on the aluminum radiator that always breaks on the OEM radiator is smaller than on the OEM one so the hose just "falls" on the nipple.....it is not tight even in the slightest.... solution: don't know yet....still trying to figure this one out......if anyone has any ideas, please share!

HEadaches!!!
