My fans will sometimes run for 5-10minutes after shutdown, even after babying the car with the AC on.
My in-car read 114°F yesterday. The bank on Ray Road said 130°F. MY fans would run for up to 30 minutes on some days. Now, with the bigger rad, they turn off after 30 seconds.
BTW - my A/C blows frigid-aire even when I'm standing still on the north-bound 10 in those temps. You should try the various A/C mods posted here. Cumulatively, they work.

That said, high engine oil temps will kill the motor quickly.

Did anyone definitively link side seal wear to measurably lowered compression?

i will and thanks---just looked at a side plate i have and i could easily see the little edge and indentation with scuff wear on the intake port you pointed out--clear as a bell--now that I know what to look for It sure does look like that indentation is a mistake?. Unless it has something to do with shaping the intake charge?
I wonder if the 09's look like this?
i have already VERY VERY slightly bevel cut those edges and the difference is easily felt/seen.
By chance I also discovered something very interesting that may lead to a fair more cooling to the exhaust port! I will save that one for later.
Again--- appreciate what you have done.

i see something on the exhaust port that hasnt been talked about before and it could be IF i am correct , of great help for those that like constant high rpm's. Some more investigating is needed before I throw it up.
Back to the side seals. Work is progressing in this area and solutions are being pursued.
Lots of good ideas. Some seem to be working at present.
Boy---do I have a wish book.

There's so much detailed discussions on this board, my head is gonna asplode!

I'm still a rotary newbe, so I don't really understand the images in David Haskell's post :
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=211

I see the side and corner seal, but I don't understand which direction it's moving in relation to the port. If the rotor in the middle picture was to move rightwards, it would appear to be possible for the leading edge of the seal to clip the housing. I doubt that's what's happening, so hopefully someone here can chime in and explain the movement of the rotor viewed from the port in the photos.

p.s.
That is one of the most fantastic booty I've seen in pants, MM. picture perfect.
