Removing resonator?

I tried searching but didnt find anything that i wanted...

Just wondering if any of you have removed just the resonator on the 8?

Im running a JIC catback..... just thought that i could get a little more sound from teh exhaust if i removed the resonator...

any feedbacks is appreciated...

Resonator is part of the pipe that includes the cat. Cat just remove the resonator, unless you buy one of two things. There are straight pipes that remove both. There are hi-flow cat units that remove the resonator portion from RP & SR Motorsports.

could i get a muffler shop to cut off the resonator and reweld a pipe back on to teh resonator section so i would retain the use of the stock cat?

You might be able to but the resonator is a straight-flow design that has little to no restriction to it. I am told that the noise of an unsilenced rotary is quite deafening. I am using a catless midpipe w/resonator and that is pretty loud by most standards. Most are using a high-flow cat with a silenced mid.

Removing the resonator will just make it really buzzy. If you like the sound of a weed trimmer, then go for it.

Yeah, there is definitely a "buzz" in the exhaust sound w/o the resonator. I always describe as an "overgrown chainsaw". Same thing.

I had a cat w/o an exhaust for a few days and it was unbearably loud and very buzzy. Stick with a midpipe or hiflow cat w/the exhaust.

I am running the SR Motorsports mid pipe with no resonator and it is not buzzy at all with a cat back exhaust. It is considerably louder than just a cat back. I will tell you that running no resonator with the stock exhaust IS buzzy and not at all pleasing to my ears.
