I have recently installed exhaust and ordered a cold air system. I did a search and didn’t find the answer to my question. Should I reflash after it’s all installed or is it even necessary to do it?

 

Getting a performance reflash would be great. But it's not neceassary.

 

The service manager at the dealership where i bought my car is a friend so the reflash would be free but is there a differance in a performance and a dealer flash?

 

If your car is current on it's recalls, it has the most current reflash. We know of none newer from Mazda.

With respect to performance reflashes, we were able to prove some of what Jim M says on his site about pulling fuel out above 5500 (see Dudes reflashed my car) so it would seem that a proper tuner "performance flash" would buy you at least 8 bhp.

How would i know if Mazda came out with flash updates? I dont know the rx8 tech at my dealer just the service manager that dosent know much about them at all. Maybe i should take the tech a case of beer.
