you know how you can feel a gold chain and feel the quality verse feeling a gold filed or plated chain and it feels cheep? thats the feel I speak of, but then again you guys probably cant feel that n e way. j/k dont get bent out of shape! some of you dont understand the smooth feeling of better oil or filter on your engine, thats where Im coming from.

it doesnt matter, you guys buy you $1000 rads and I will just wish I could too
Just because its plastic doesnt mean it suck.

well designed piece is better than crappy clone.

For stock car and never really race, stock rad is good enough.

I was talking about the one you DID NOT get with the rad you bought. Lest you think I take cooling the RX-8 casually you may want to ask around.

the plastic cracked on the stock unit. a new plastic one was a little over $200. I decided I didnt want another plastic piece that would crack again. Yes it would have been nice to buy top of the line, but I dont have it like that. I dont take cooling a rotary lightly, but with a little patience and tworking, it fits nice. Im sure a thicker core all aluminum radiator would cool better than the stock unit, but Im not argueing that point, just letting broke people know you dont only have $1000 choices. Im not here trying to sell anything. Only trying to help out the next person researching the radiator issue and now once again. The next poot Joe must sift through the Rx-8 club drama queens tears because of more than one thought on a subject that may differ from Richie Riches. jeez

Koyo has thicker core, all aluminum, fit is perfect, and cost only 300 something.

but has yet to do what its suppose to do.

Actually, people overheat less with the stock "plastic" rad than Koyo. that should tell you something isnt it ?

Not to mention, most good rad cost nowhere near 1000 mark. it cost more than 1000 only if you buy the japanese one. like the one from Fujita Engineering.

everything needs a test dummy. even the ebay special radiators... if you are oblivious to the cooling comparison then i guess you're fine. if it ever overheats, you could imply that the stock radiator would have overheated as well. but who knows.

So it was not an exact swap, but it is much nicer and beefier then the oem. I dont have to worry about the plastic tanks breaking, all aluminum. I would not suggest someone with out mechanic experience to attemp. Just got to make sure there is no metal on metal contact, dont want to rub any leaks. It is a real task to get to the radiator and replace. So schedule a day to play with the 8 it calls for 3 hours for a tech to replace. )
i guess that covers it. it does not fit like the stock or well done good rad.

and you have only to say that it cools as well as the stock..

btw, it is a pain in the *** to change the rad in this car. so why do it if it is not going to cool better than stock???

get back to us when you can measure the actual temps..

Get the BHR radiator. It has the biggest cooling capacity yet. The Koyo has been proven to be worse that stock. You can't go wrong with the BHR.

i think most of the info has been given.. except for your foam question.

I don't know but if it is I hope someone gets something figured out soon. I really want to get the temps down and I already have the Cobb AP, BHR Radiator, and the MazMart Water pump. Temps are still way too high!

The best we can do is to design a thermostat that targets 180 as the temp. If THAT doesn't work the engine's water jacket is the only thing left.
