Yea even if he doesnt give the money back its no big loss.
I do know these do work on some cars. Ive used it before and alot of the honda people use them w/o a probelm. Just need to test it on a rx8 now.
I'd test it but my car has 3k miles on it. Im not gonna swap out the cat yet.

I have a theory on why they're offering it now. I think they'll be releasing a more aggressive ecu flash that doesn't worry about cat protection. If they offer their own midpipe then it's more likely a customer without a midpipe will order one and the aggressive flash at the same time from the same place. All about marketing in my opinion.

Although I will give them credit for putting a hanger on it.

Everyone serious about keeping their 8, and looking for a solution for power and better gas mileage, should think about a pipe. You will have both setups. I bought a midpipe over 6 months ago to rule out a CAT issue. Figured I could put it back on when I need to. No need. NO CEL. NO ODOR. NOT LOUD. NO DRONE. It may smoke, if you flooded it prior. If you did not let it warm up before shut down. There will be a noticable power increase, depending on your current CAT condition. Mine was bad, so in theory it was more than a 8HP gain. I have the stock exhaust on with Tips extended out past bumper at 3.5 inches. I bet money it would pass inspection. There is another thread I read to support that. Someone passed with a midpipe.
The CAT on this car faces demise due to the nature of the car. To run properly, the car needs to warm up to temp for ECU reasons. Until the temp gauge moves to the normal point, it runs rich. Correct me if I am wrong, but the EGT at idle is easily 800. During the warm up the CAT is basicly an afterburner in reverse. They should have installed a toaster oven. In six months that chrome pipe has turned black. Tell me that aint some heat. All that heat conducts back up into the header and to all the other parts. Getting that heat away has got to add life to the engine.

I don't know how you miss the odor unless you're always upwind from it...

800 degrees sounds about right, when you're moving it's usually 1500-1700, and drops to ~1200 at stop lights.

Does anyone have any real experience and real numbers to share?
My interest is in mileage - is there a difference and if so how much?
Other then the birds falling from the trees, I'm not too worrried about the aftereffects of running catless.

You forget .......... If you want the pipe to last 200,000 miles or more through salt and winter conditions you need a good prosuct likes theirs.
Unfortunately the price for this is the weight of the system.
Most people experience salt and snow unlees your in So. Calf. or Soth of the Mason Dixon line.
And I've heard in those once a yeear to three times a year snow conditions they also have a tendancy to use salt.
