Thumbs up R3 a Blast!

I had the opportunity to drive a r3 the other day. What pure entertainment. And to my surprise Mazda are offering rediculous discounts on 2009's! Now is the time to buy this vehicle. But what is the general consensus of adding moderate hp gains to the weird and wonderful Wankel, without resorting to forced induction mods? Who are the most reliable suppliers?

forced induction or nitrous are really the only things that will give worthwhile gains....

If modding this car to get a more powerful ride, you may want to reconsider your purchase.

bridgeporting? Might not want to do that. Kinda risky imo , and since its an r3 which is new , why would you take apart the engine? Not worth the expense.

bridgeporting for anything other than to sound cool is pointless. really. especially on a renesis.

It'll be fine, don't wuss out. If it breaks thats what new engines are for.

No one's dyno'd yet right? Until then I'm going to assume it puts out buttloads of NA power.

Keep in mind the most you're going to get out of typical bolt-ons are 1-3hp tops per part, if that, without FI/Nitrous. Base your decision on getting the car from the selection below:

Drag car to be a fast n furious wannabe = get something else.

Race/Sports car enthusiastic = get the 8.

best mod? drive a giant SUV, van or large vehicle around all week before hopping in your 8 on the weekend. I swear it's like the best mod ever - and it has LIMITLESS gains...!! EVERY time you get in your 8 after the giant car, you'll be amazed at the acceleration, feel and cornering.

best mod if you have another DD...!!

Lawl....I have to agree with this post 100%. My 2nd vehicle is a 1995 Jeep Wrangler which is actually in great condition. 4 inch lift and 33" tires makes a great ride to get me around on the snowy days. My 8 doesnt see snow or rain. After several days in a row of driving that Jeep, then jumping in the RX8....its like im driving a frikin ROTARY ROCKET! haha Im so amazed at how incredible the RX driving experience is every time I get back in it!!! God I love this car...
