R.B. or Borla??

I am looking for a true 3in. exhaust to put on my rx-8 and do not want a loud ricey sound. Also what would be a recommended resonated midpipe for these systems? I saw that racing beat has a midpipe but its not resonated so i found the rx8store midpipe, would anyone recommend or know if this works with either system?

thanks again...by the way this is my first post and i have a 05 velocity red 6 speed RX-8 in South Jersey

I have an RP Supercat + extra resonator and an RB exhaust on my car. It sounded great NA which is why I bought that particular combo. Quiet at cruise, opens up with a heavier foot. The RB exhaust is kind of heavy, but quality. I've since gone turbo and melted the cat. The car is almost stock quiet now and I have to pull the cat out.

So, I recommend the RB Exhaust having owned one. I can't say what midpipe to combo it with. I also have not listened to the borla much.

Check the stickied Exhaust thread for more info about both. Both are good selections and compare well. I love my Borla and it has a deeper, more distinctive (IMHO) note than the RB. It also does well keeping quiet when I need it to be tho people will hear it no matter what you're doing.

I've got some vids with crappy sound comparing stock w/Borla here:

http://www.youtube.com/rkel76

In terms of midpipes both will have an annoying drone with anything short of the dual resonated midpipe. Jon316 has had the RB with a midpipe and removed it. mysql had the Borla with midpipes and complained of annoying drone. If you're planning on daily driving with a midpipe (which is illegal almost everywhere) that's apparantly about the only route you can take N/A unless you turbo. FI, ironically, makes your exhaust quieter so you may be able to get away with a single resonated midpipe or supercat.

The RB connecting pipe expands from a 2.5 inch flange. so it's not really a true 3 inch catback.

Since you are in jersey you should come to our meets.. we have quite a few people there with Borla's and Racing Beats exhausts.. in addition to others. It's every Tuesday at the Starbucks on Route 17N.

Borla is good if you stay stock.

add a mid pipe and it's too loud.

RB is your best bet.
