Question about aftermarket exhausts

I was wondering if any or all of the aftermarket exhaust sit higher than stock? What I mean by that is I just got an MS-style rear bumper molded into my stock bumper and the bumper is higher than the stock muffler in the middle. I planned on gettin exhaust but after I picked up my car from the body shop I saw how bad it looked from behind with that big unfinished muffler hanging down considerably lower than the bumper. So I guess I'll be getting that exhaust sooner than planned. I asked the same question in my other thread where I posted a pic of the bumper: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/got-my-ms-style-rear-molded-79354/ but no one answered. You can't really see the muffler from those pics cause I'm so close up, but from a distance it hangs down low. Do some of the aftermarket exhausts have smaller mufflers than others that will sit higher up? Can you reccomend any? Any help is appreciated!!!

Jay

I can can only say how the Greddy SP2 looks. If I took the same photo with the OEM exhaust you would see see it hang below the bumper. The SP2 takes up less space under the car than the OEM. I however can't say how the 4" tips would look with your bumper.

EDIT: 2nd photo shows the mufflers on my SP2 and they are about even with the lateral links ( not sure on the part name).

suggestion,

post better pics. I can not tell where yours exhuast is hanging. I just got the hymee exhaust, (thread below this) and it sits the same, but has a bigger tips so the gap is smaller from the top

any of the aftermarket exhausts muffler underneath will be smaler than the oem can. Try doing a search I thought people had problems with the ms style bumper and the greddy exhaust.

Got it, I didn't see his other thread at the time.

This last photo should give him a starting point. 7 1/2" muffler to ground on a Greddy SP2. I do have 225/50/17 on my 8 right now but that doesn't change things that much over the OEM tires.

One of the main reasons I bought the Hymee exhaust is that his mufflers can't be seen from behind at all. 100% stealth.

I hated the OEM rusty muffler look with a passion.

No...never gone gold. I just clean them occasionally with some car polish.....nothing special. I assume they stay that way because of the high grade stainless they are made of.

They don't turn gold because the tips are double-walled, unlike with most other aftermarket exhausts.

Wow, those Hymee tips look nice. Do they extend out as far as the Racing Beat tips? I think the farther the tips extend, the nicer the look. That's why I think the Turbo XS tips look like hell if they don't change them.

I kind of like the slightly turned down "dolphin" tip look

^^^ not bad.

I heard hymee uses better steel vs. the rb stainless steel and that was partly due to the bronzing effect.

So Hymee uses better steel than RB and is still lighter than RB?
