Problems with new ACT CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL ?

I've changed the clutch to Act HD and Act HD pressure plate, ACT prolite flywheel, and feel plenty power.

My only problem is that my first gear is lazy and I can't use my reverse like usual, it feels weird. When using reverse I try not to burn the clutch but a burn smells always comes up, please help.,.. Any help will be great. The mecanic who mounted the clutch said this is normal, I don't think so....it's been over 1,000 miles and the car still does it.

Sometimes the car stays at high rpm's over 1,500 or even 2,000 the normal rpms settings when in neutral and when driving

You seem to know a lot about rotary engines with over 6,000 posts in this website, why not throwing in some mecanic advises or maybe reply with technical solutions to what causes these problems,
I'm sure that other people have experienced these issues and will be thankful with your knowledge if any.

Thanks

your clutch is not going to give you more power. a lighter flywheel will help your acceleration, but it will not give you more power.

our reverse is touchy to begin with.

anyone who buys a HD clutch in our car made a pretty noobish decision. we dont have the power to warrant a heavy duty clutch. hell, we dont even have the power for "stage 1" clutches. so, congrats on that you wasted your money. have fun building up your leg muscles and reducing your driving pleasure.

So if you plan on going f/i but put a hd clutch in your car this is newbish? i have the act hd clutch, therfore i made a newbish move? even w/ my nitrous and supporting mods and soon turbo the 8 wont make enough power for my new clutch to be useful? im confused explain your theory some more please

Stage 1, Ha, I have an act stage 2 but I also have a ported 20g turbo. Anyways, the transmission went out completly in my car and it was hard to get into reverse right before it happend. Does it feel like the clutch is not fully engaging in first and reverse, this might sound dumb but did you replace the pressure plate when you got the clutch?

you have quite a lot of power adders (esp. on the way) and you drag race. relax.

"we dont have the power to warrant..blahblah." obviously this means stock form rx8s.

i dont think anyone understands your problem...

the clutch works or it doesnt..

the clutch works the same in all gears..

you should worry less about post count figure out how to describe a problem that is likely to happen.. or better yet get a video an make it easy to troubleshoot...

if you are having an issue in 1st and rev, the pp could not be releasing all the way..

many reasons why that could happen..

beers

I'm going to try to be constructive, let it be noted that I don't have the RX-8 (yet) and I don't have experience with this type of clutch and flywheel. But I have driven some harddriven cars, and what they have in common is that they are far less forgiving than stock clutches, so rather than feel yourself to where you should let out your clutch, you have to press hard on the clutch, and let it out "fast" at the exact point you are supposed to let it out. But that's just my experience with some shoddy older cars with "performance" clutches

When you put it in first, does the gearstick slide easily into first? If so, have you tried letting the clutch out fast/slow, if so what's the difference?

Explain in more detail like they say above. I'm thinking the same as them, first and reverse is the first trouble gears if something is wrong in general, even had that with my Miata. It would be a very good idea to change transmission oil too if you haven't yet. I think you talked about gearing in another thread if I'm not mistaken.
