Lightbulb possibe upgrade to K&N Typhoon 2

i've been thinking about the way my typhoon 2 system doesn't align w/ the air inlet for a while. the carbon fiber filter that comes w/ this system is such that the air is sucked directly through the center opening rather than from the surrounding air like most other cone filters. the carbon fiber wraping the filter element in the center prevents it from sucking in ambiant air, so it needs to have the flow directed straight through its center in order to work as intended.

i thought it might be a good idea if i attached a silicone hose that bends in order to angle the filter's center opening towards the mouth of the air inlet. i can't paint a picture for you guys cuz i'm limited on resources at my work computer, but i'm sure you guys get the picture. i'm sure w/ this mod the flow would be directed straight through the filter's center, but i'm not sure if the bend would hurt performance in any other way. can anyone shed some light on this idea?

I didnt do it to mine. Cuz Im thinking the air Im getting should be *more* than enough to get it going.

Why did K&N do it this way I dont know why, Im 100% sure they know about this. and I mean they could've move the pipe a little bit to the right, but instead, they left it like half the way, for the looks, or other reasons ?

Only K&N knows. Im still happy with this intake tho.

i'm happy w/ the intake as well... but, this imperfection bothers me & it would be such a cheap fix that i'm gonna give it a try... does anyone know the best place to buy silicone fittings??

The bend will decrease air velocity.

that's what i'm afraid of... but, i really don't see how a smooth 135deg angle will negatively impact the velocity... i just want a small enough angle to be able to get the air right through the center without affecting the velocity...

Since K&N fuxked themself so bad on their Version 1, I think they "carefully" design this second version, some said they copied or co-develop with RB. whatever it is, this should be the close to perfect version.

and I dont think I need to change it any way.
