Paxton Supercharger

My friend's dad who turbos all his vehicles(bike, 2 trucks, an SUV and an SS Impala.) said they he had seen somewhere about a Paxton supercharger for the RX-8, I went to thier website but they only had info on domestic vehicles. Anyone hear anything about it?

Haven't heard anything about this, but Sunflower Mazda is working on their kit and it has the ATI Procharger unit (similar centrifugal SC type). Usually Paxton isn't known for Japanese applications (though Comptech has one for the S2000). Vortech is usually the one that comes out with something (they have SC's for S2000, 350Z/G35, Integras, Civics, etc.).

For a while there was a Paxton kit for the 2nd generation RX-7. It was actually a kit sold by a company called Nelson (the owner's name). He made the brackets and supplied the pulleys. The kit, as it came, spun the supercharger too fast at redline. The remedy was to use a larger pulley. Unforunately this sytem could only yield about 215 rwhp or so. This was with the Paxton Novi 2000 blower.

I had a chance to ride in a car equipped with one a few years ago. It was certainly nothing to brag or get exited about. It really isn't that fast or that fun. There is no low end power and peak boost is only at redline which for the kit was only about 6 psi or so. It wasn't worth the $4K+ they were asking.

the 2 generation rx7 had about 160-180 hp at the fly wheel . rx8 is 238 hp so add 40 to55 more hp power to the flywheel . that would make it 280 -293 that sound good to me.
