Hmmm, I never had any issue with my OBX header.
If you are referring to the red hot dyno run that Charley did at Mazcare, I can verify that after running it for a year it did not cause any heat problems with the area around it. :) |
does anyone know the difference between the standard obx and the obx r exhaust. i've searched and haven't come up with any deffinitive answers. and the obx website has nothing.

Their bung is located too far up imo along with a reported heat problem with them.
the re amemyia and the obx are identical, and i never had a heat problem and i live in vegas.:) |
Yes I bought it off ebay from Tuning Depot. it is a knock off of the Fujitsubo LegalisR exhaust and sounds pretty close to it once it is worn in and warmed up. i dont notice any drone on the highway and the sound is a little louder than stock but much deeper. I dont know much about the header but highly recommend the catback. PS
I am also using the stock cat. ill try to put a clip up before the end of the week. :) |

same, no probs with mine.
I did have cooler engine bay temps with the midpipe. I believe Charley's dyno run with the OBX header, that got cherry red, was running a stock cat at the time. ;) |

Mr.Sparkle Quote: is that the obx or the obx-r? all i've seen on ebay from them is the standard system. and also for some reason i had a small dent in the muffler just like supergoat. lol. |
I ran the OBX for awhile before switching to the HKS Hi-power. I thought it was a great pipe for the money. Definitely better sounding than the stock and other than some subpar welds it looked pretty good.

the video is now only on rapidshare. sry for any confusion. i was having trouble loading the video correctly onto youtube.
|
Here is a Megaupload Mirror to the video above
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VTN3ZTCZ Sounds very much like stock to me.... Maybe i'll save up a little more and get the greddy sp2. Thanks for the video though, reddragon |
well mine finally came in, looked like the box was dropped outta the sky, but its all in one piece safe and sound. going to go get gaskets and hardware now...
does it fit the doughnut gasket at the cat the same and I just need the ones for the back of midpipe to muffler connection??? i will find out shortly if nobody chimes in... |
that last video is a stock system isnt it??? its not shiny ..... and also, am I the only one not getting the pop/crack on rack down.... i guess it will soon... ?......

It should bolt up with the items you have. Have fun with the exhaust hangers... there is a tool that helps get those off without a lot of work. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalog |
i have one of those at work.... Snap-On is no stranger LOL i prefer spraying the hangers with penetrating oil and it slides off easily as well... going to fight the bolts at the cat with a snap on battery impact, hell with manual labor!
if i had air here at home it would be done the night it made it to my doorstep! |
It is actually Blue Point which is a subsidiary of Snap-On.
I was disappointed when it wasn't Snap-On... then I looked a little deeper. It is only 2 nuts and the hangers that hold the cat-back section. :dunno: |

got mine on, damn that engineer that decided to tack weld the nuts onto the flange where i cant grind them off! had to cut off the studs and burr the hole, hog it out to remove the nut on the front side of the flange. LOVE the sound!!!! it got louder as it heated up, i was very happy..... removal = 4 hrs. Install 5 minutes.
my Forza tuning emblem is on upside down! LOL screw it. $377 shipped, worth the price! |
If you were referring to the studs that attach to the header they are seated into the flange. Once you take the cat out you can tap the three bolts out with a hammer. Then use stainless bolts and nuts when you reinstall. Not exactly sure why the engineers did the three like that unless it saves time when assembling the exhaust. :dunno: They obviously did not look at the trouble it is to take it out if the cat-back is still installed. :(
|
i think i got my words crossed on my last post. I had issues removing the springed nuts at the donut gasket flange. I took a grinder to them, which obviously caused come collateral damage (studs) and they were ground off as well. to my dismay I discovered that the nuts on the front side of the flange (faces front of car) were tacked on, thus leaving me wondering how to remove since there wasnt enough of a stud to even grab with a pipe wrench . had to drill small holes to get to where the tack weld was, and then burr the hole out to free it. a big p.i.t.a. in disassembly but the install of new took about 5 minutes.
on a side note... DAMN did it sound nice with no muffler! car feels like it gained quite a bit of power but all it done in this cold weather was spin... |

I took the video at night with a bright light, plus it was windy and stuff. Ill get pics later to prove it. PS. it might be because i got oil and prints all over it too. :wallbash:

I told u that video was made on a cold start so it makes since. I also love the sound at 3-4k rpms, when crusing it sounds just like an old fc. by the way I also have the damn upside down forza emblem. my install time took 3hrs with clean up. Congrats on the exhaust and have fun.:score:
