I put these crap wires on my car and it made my check engine light come on because its causing my cylinder to misfire. Alot of people are having this problem. Anyways, im trying to figure out what way to put the only ones back on. 2 of the wires are color coated but i cant figure out if they go to intake or exhaust slot. Anyone able to help me out? There are 2 upper spark plug holes and 2 low that come off the distributer. Let me know if you know anything please.

 

Yeah, unfortunately this is pretty common. A few posters actually had their spark plugs melted through when they put the Nology wires on.

 

I think you should avoid any more mods till you either read up more on your car or get a shop manual. RX-8’s do not have cylinders or a distributor. So I don’t get the color-coated part of your question. I would just put back on the OEM wires till you get this sorted out. I am taking a guess that you need to know which wires goes to which plugs, I am attaching a pic.

 

I had my plugs melted. They were crap. My engine would give out after 8,000... it was a terrible experience.

 

lol, that sucks. i put on my nology wire in my school, i used a lift so it's easy to work up and down. I did 1 wire at once, so it won't get all **** up.

 

I fixed a misfire problem by installing these plug wires and denso racing plugs. So my rx8 must be a goofy one! LOL

 

...and to answer your plug problem....

There are four coil packs, numbered from front to back -
first goes to front, bottom (leading)
second to front top (trailing)
third to rear rotor, bottom,
and fourth to rear rotor top.

So what's the consensus?
1. Stock plug wires are good, don't change them.
2. Aftermarket wires are a good idea, as long as they are not the Nology brand?

Yeah.. I would have to agree. People tend to love Racing Beat's wires and have no issues with them.

 

I'm sure there are a number of aftermarket wires that are good, maybe "better" than stock in some way...but unless your stock wires go bad, is there really any reason to upgrade them? In more-or-less new form, are the stock wires really any less good than they need to be? In my opinion no, but I'm curious what others think.

This forum has been around long enough to start serving as a good information and reference source. I highly recommend searching here for previous threads discussing parts or components that you're considering purchasing or installing.

Try a search on 'Nology' - you'll find a bunch of threads, going back over a year. Much discussion, most of which would have convinced you in advance to not waste your money on them.
