Noise without cat

Hey,

It seems that my stock cat is damaged and I may need to replace it, but I was considering just removing it. I still have the stock is exhaust, is this a good idea?
More importantly how much louder does it make the car, because I seen some vids and the rx8 is really loud without the cat, is this true?

Thanks

There are a couple guys running race pipe to oem muffler, ask dozer, I believe I read that he subscribes.
I have a turboxs set up that I don't like and is coming out (already sold) and driving to cincinatti to get an AP exhaust + mid pipe so I wouldn't know. I only had the stock muffler on 4 2 months.

Should be fine though, it will also help you pop some flames!

The AP with the AP dual res is loud and raspy. I have heard the xs power setup and it was quieter and less raspy then my AP + AP dual res. I finally switched my AP mid pipe to a RB dual res midpipe and it sounds amazing now.

I have the AP dual res pipe with greddy sp2 I can tell you the AP dual res is raspy especially between 3500 and 4,300 when you are putting load on the throttle if you can deal with that tiny aspect its alright.

You will not damage the car by removing the cat. You will have a CEL light on your dash by going with a strait pipe. Yes, it will be loud.

^^ A local NH member has a gutted cat on the stock intake. Sounds better, a little raspier, but not loud by any means. Sounds mostly stock.
