New Pettit Racing exhaust system
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say that the new Pettit Racing RX8 exhaust system is out now.
It is a full modular system developed with Milltek Exhausts in the UK.
They do a lot of great high end systems, and the Pettit system is a peach.
Its a full 3 inch system, developed as a modular system from the OEM manifold back.
The cat back tips are 4" and are double slash cut to be the only ones I know that actually fit with the rear valance of the 8.
The modular system eliminates the centre flange, which creates a restriction, and extra weight in other systems, and can link to either a resonated super performance HJS hi flow cat (rated to over 1050C) or a race pipe.
Again the modular nature of the system means you keep the resonator section up, and just drop the manifold flange and can swap between race pipe or hi flow cat.
Weight wise, it drops about 7kg over the OEM system
The system is designed to be unobtrusive at lower revs, and come alive high up, eliminating horrible "cruise drone" that some systems suffer from.
I've had the full hi flow cat system on my car for a few thousand miles now and its great. Looks awesome and sounds good too.... I love tunnels now.
Contact Pettit US for the US prices etc, as I have no idea!

A nice pic of me on the track with it... you can see how well it flows with the rear valance...

There are units available in the US now. Probably not updated site yet.
As for the tips, yes they are 4 inch, they are rear cooled (watch the vid!) so no worries with melting shrouds etc.
You can touch them after a run..... but dont quote me (sue me) on that...
S2 version is scheduled for dev, and hopefully should be ready for year end.....

The X is silent
I was just thinking earlier today that I would like to see an exhaust with tips to match the shroud shape - at least this matches the line of the valence. I like it!

Ultra bump !
I'm actually hesitating between that milltek/Pettit catback and the traditionnal Racing beat's one.
My car is pretty "loud", lots and lots of mods on it but NA, my actual exhaust line is knight sports header, BHR midpipe ( wich has a little leak or two imo, "rasping" as i think you US guys say ) and a random no name catback i bought to a friend but i really need to change now.
I will use the car most of time on trackdays, i need to keep the sound as low as possible ( but i will stay catless ), i guess the RB catback is more quiet than the Milltek's ont when i hear at videos, but if ever somebody here heard it ou even owns that milltek product, i would be very glad to get the advice on it, the RB one is allready installed on hundreds of RX8, would be nice to get something else in my mind, but as i say, is it really way louder than the RB catback or is the difference not that big ?
I wouldn't get kicked off trackdays cause my car's is too much noisy hey ! :D Thank you guys, sorry for my english.

most UK tracks have a limit of 102 or 105dB
Some of the really stupid ones have a 98db level (which I think is ridiculous)
The full Pettit system peaks at about 99dB if you include the hi flow section.
