it sure looks alot easier to install than the REVI, at least not having the needs to take off the front bumper
I would think you still need to take off the bumper to get the VFAD out of the equation. I don't see any point at all in installing an intake and leaving it there unless all you want is hot air.

What about when the engine revs, don't we need movement there?

On the downside of the airbox, RB themselves says on their website that "enlarging the oval inlet to the factory air box - +2 HP (this modification eliminates the VFAD intake duct.)."
I agree that the airbox only works as a tuner for a limited range, however it's effectiveness is there for more than 1000rpm. Kind of like bandwidth on an electronic circuit.

Enlarging the oval, simply tunes the box to a different rpm range. Port size is a very important part of resonance tuning. Removing the box entirely will not add the 2 hp that came from enlarging the port.

i'd do a little of each if i was making a system... have a rigid k&N intake pipe plumbed into a nice flowing box, but make the outlet of the box larger then the outlet pipe so it can move and seal it up with a silicon boot.. A work around for the small box inlet through the bumper should be a ram air system like RB's.

I doubt i'll ever see a setup like that though...

Showoff - You seem to have the inside line on the K&N, any insight as to when it may be releassed? I'm holding off the RB sways untill the TSB is cleared up so I have some money to spend.
