Need To run 13's how??
I need my RX8 to run in the 13's in the quarter mile i was wondering what i need, dont want to tubo or supercharger it tho.
|
Two of them.........the big ones.....and you'll need them by tonight
|
nitrous
|
|
Seriously though getting in to the 13's N/A won't be easy. Light wheels, slicks ,NOS, light flywheel, different final drive, all of the bolt ons(intake, header, exhaust, test pipe, underdriven pullies, short shifter), tuning, tuning, more tuning and extensive weight reduction and maybe you'll be able to do it.........maybe
|
Ask Charles R Hill
I think you can do a 13.9 with nitrous. You will have to remove everything in the car. Seats radio glove box etc. |
what does a stock RX8 run?
|
Bit late to ask....
S |
RX8 quarter mile time
How fast does a RX8 run in the quarter mile ive hurd 14.5 but i was wondering if thats true??
|
Dude, You've been making these kind of thread for the past 3 days.
a Simple Search can get u the answer within like 10 seconds. Is it really that hard to do so ? |
1 Attachment(s)
14.5 @ 95.6 Mph
(I think I post this once a week) |
google the folllwing..
site:rx8club.com 1/4 mile time i think we should sticky the google method, it works better than the forum search engine. |
He asked the same question in another post.
Seriously, I think its much faster to *just search* than *Start a thread, type in all the crap, and wait* |
ya.. u and ur forum troll postings...
ya u can run 13's.. take off everything down to the metal, strap a sparco seat, light wheels, light grip tires(warmed up), 1/4 gas tank, no unecessary fluids. all bolt ons, CF parts on everything, loose weight, ECU tuning. i am talking out of my ass but i am sure if u do all these perhaps u can make it? XD |
13's? Sell your car and buy an SRT-4.
|
should sell the 8 to much money for little hp
|
Like what everyone else says nitrous will be the easiest route.
|
go down the hill, with a straight road, you will be able to make it low 13's...for a 1/4 miles (stock engine), otherwise, go for FI or NOS, that's what i have read in this forum....

Put a 55 shot Zex nitrous kit in and you will be in the 13's. Or strap every NA mod out there and you will still be running in the 14's.
|
do people really buy RX-8s for out of the box drag racing?

I don't think it'd be impossible if they're running 14.5sec stock. High-flow panel filter, no cat and a Cobb AP, should get you .6sec, i don't know about drag racing though really. That mod combo, the Triple Threat, can add up to 15hp.

15hp isn't worth .6 seconds?
15hp is what MazdaManiac is claiming can be achieved. |
15whp is not .6 seconds. Mazdamaniac will be the first to come in and tell you that as well. A light weight flywheel and lightweight rims will probably yield better results.

Naaawwwwzzz

That sucks, i thought 15hp would do more than that. |
yea man, it's disappointing. Drag racing is stupid anyways, and buying this car to drag race it is even more stupid IMO
|
Add another 10 hp claimed for the Mazsport Ignition solution.
220HP has been proven through dyno with essentially "Bolt ons" and a flash. That's still not more then half a second. Nitrous, no cat, AP, panel filter and ignition and you probably have a winner.... for roughly $3-4k installed. |

um, what are light grip tires?
|
I get low 12's on the 1/4 mile , read my sig for my mods. All in all costed me less then 1k , and its a vette killer.....:eyetwitch
|
lightweight RIMS
|
no he specifically said "light grip tires(warmed up)" i want to know what these are.
|
Errr.. maybe he meant slicks? I dont think you would have much traction control issues on the 8 though lol.

if a tire is warmed up, you get more grip than if its cold.
thats why drag racers do a little burn out before they run. |

Drag radials perhaps.....I think Nitto and BF goodrich make some. |
eeeewww drag racing
|
PoLaK posted a time slip a while back running 14.5 completely stock. It's in the Racing subforum. So of course it's possible.
Not to mention some have clipped the high 13's N/A with some well-through mods, like a lightweight fly, new clutch, modified intake, exhaust, and midpipe. |
but have yet to see a time slip from any of those people.... and would definitely think people would be dieng to post those up to show they are the first after all these years.

i really dont like how people hate on drag racing...how is getting from turn 9 to turn 10 any different than a drag race...
I'm sure as many of u who track their cars that beating someone in the turns is nice and all...but most of the times its the power out of the corner and down that straight that gets faster lap times.... so what ur gonna rag on track days too?? |

That's because most just assume all drag racers are rednecks or ricers. Years ago, I met Doug Mangrum (Mustang drag racer) and he was intelligent, smart, etc. Mangrum was one of the first to take a Mustang with Windsor block deep into the sevens. Most on here dislike NASCAR for the same reason....easy to hate on them because they are popular and people just associate them with dumb ol' rednecks from the South. |
There is a lot more skill involved in manuevering through a turn and their are a lot of complex weight transfers going on that the driver has to be able to handle, braking and accelerating both most be done at the correct rate and time in order to not upset the chassis and break traction.
I still want to get these LightGrip tires... |

This is the reason why i find track racing more demanding than drag racing. As an example: Give me a 13 second car and a pro drag racer a 16 second car and I will win the race. I will probably land on 15 seconds but it will still beat the 16 second car since it cannot go faster. Take the same two cars and place them on a racetrack. Me in the 13 second car and an F1 driver in the 16 second car. I would be lucky if I can keep up for one lap. The difference being that the driver skill is much more obvious on a track than in a straight line. There is also much more room to improve on a track because the millions of lines you can take with various theories behind them to drive fast depending on the situation. In a drag race it is once more just a straight line. |
