Mated an rb duct to my oe airbox this weekend. I used a 4" plumbquik coupler per the diy guide in the forums. No matter what I did I couldn't get a very good seal on the airbox end. If someone else out there is thinking about doing this my best advice would be to either splurge on the revi or to do some more research and come up with a better coupler.

Anyways I definately noticed a little bit of a different sound. My friend said it sounded like less of a vacuum cleaner now. It's probably just in my head but it seems like theres a little increase in power, especially on the interstate. It also seems like its almost impossible to **** up a start from a stop... its like the lower rpms are smoother or maybe theres a little more torque down around idle now or something.

The duct was one hell of an expesive piece of plastic but it does seem to be built pretty damn well. Eventually I'll be getting a revi. Ghetto rigging something on a car this well engineered didn't feel right... I'll definatly have to pull the bumper and redo it or get a revi.

I had some pictures (including one with our ls6 by the engine hoist lurking by the eight..... didn't seem like a very good idea though) But im too lazy right now.

lol on the vac hose. im about to do the same thing as you as i shelled out for a K&N filter before i knew the duct existed.

I did see another diy which used a plastic tube made from a bucket to couple the two together this may be worth a try.

I did it with a piece of plastic. It worked great. I later got the revi, if I had to choose one ove the other. I would say the ram air duct made more of a difference then the revi.

 

i sealed the gaps around the duct by using cocking. it works very well too!!

 

My RB air duct just arrived the other day and ai am going to make an adaptor to the stock box out of fibreglass.

if anyone has the stock air box lying around could they do me a favour and trace around the inlet to the stock box for me and scan the picture or email it to me. I just had a thought even the end of the VFAD would also do.

Also does anyone know what length the adaptor would need to be. It looks to be about 2 1/2"?
